In the old days people used to have jobs and families at 18, now the younger generation still lives with their parents over a quarter of their lives. We have 25 year old, "college students", who've never worked a real job in their lives who think they know something about life. At 18 you were a man, now you're a college student.

They live with their parents, never worked, never been in the real world, yet they are at the helm of political protests and voting efforts. They simply are not qualified to vote.

I think raising the voting age is an appropriate response to an increasing lazy and non-driven generation.

Raise the voting ages to 25 years old, but still 18 years old for military and people who work for a living to the point they actually pay taxes, not get all of it returned every year because they don't meet the income requirements.

The laws were made to protect young people from people just like you.

Then they need to grow up and act like adults to be treated like one.

It won't happen, because the voting age was lowered in the first place by people who fancied their chances of influencing those who had little knowledge of the world, and who were therefore more susceptible to idealistic theories. The same people are beginning to agitate in my country to lower the age again to 16. Obviously they are going to resist any attempt to disfranchise their [gullible] target voters.

Better exclude the senile old farts too then, they are losing grip on reality.

In my view, the ignorance of the electorate has very little to do with age. Raise it to 50 and you'd still have the same proportion of dumb-asses.

Just sayin'

It would be more appropriate to amend the laws to set the age of 21 as adulthood. No smokes, no beer, no voting until age 21. This also means that if a military draft is necessary, they must be 21 to be drafted... and require parental permission to volunteer for military service between the ages of 18 and 20.

I would point out that the right to vote is in the Constitution... a document on its way to oblivion under current management...

A large majority of the adult loser "college students" are socialist and communist. What in the world would make you think this is Trump related?

First of all, thankfully, the Voting Age in the United States is set at 18 by the 26th Amendment.

Second of all, as of the last Census, there were 30,672,088 Americans between the ages of 18 and 24.

Third, that's almost 10% of the American population.

Fourth, again, thankfully, Constitution Amendments aren't easy to dismiss, so this is mostly a dead issue.

Fifth, if someone is old enough to die for their country, and be tried as an adult, they are old enough to vote.

Sixth, I find it personally disgusting that people think they have special rights and should be able, willy-nilly, to change or remove the rights of others.

I asked because you seem to have a problem with the way the votes are being cast so I wondered if this was linked to the rise of Trump.

Sorry I was not aware of the political affiliations of this sub group you invented.

Are they the opposite of the "childish uneducated winners"?

It's funny - OP suggests that young-un's need to learn how to act like an adult. Shall we follow your lead, and decide to erode the rights of others because we don't agree with it?

And on the topic of acting/being treated like an adult, "loser college kids, socialist/communist."

I sense a bit of projection as well as a dose of irony.

It's not their fault generation x and boomer made it impossible to gain entry level positions and eliminate apprenticing. They have no choice but to go to college for years don't you get that?

Why don't you try listening to these kids with no social mobility or purchasing power with tens of thousands of dollars in debt before they even step into the workforce before regurgitating this ignorant crap.

Interesting that you put all the blame on the younger generation and not one thing about irresponsibility about the parents ?

So what about the parents who contributed to the current system? Weren't they also responsible raising the lazy younger generation , surely economic times, outsourcing jobs into and out of the country, and 60K+ education to get the rare 40+K job has nothing to do with it.

So should only voters between 25+ and without kids be allowed to vote?

IMO Their is enough blame to go around for everyone. The real people that should have their rights to vote revoked are the Democrat and Republican chearleaders that accepts the lesser evil B$.

We should only rich white people and old Jewish bankers to vote.

Oh better yet let's only let people who work for investment firms and CEOs vote because they know success.

We should just have you decide who should vote or not. You know there are plenty if college students that also work right? Or do you just generalize every college student as some one who doesn't work?

Ohh all the students are socialist and communist. Sound like the dictators of old that would round up the students in Latin America.

Thirty five is a better age, since you have to be thirty five to be president, you should be thirty five to vote for president.

That way the young people will learn how to tell which candidate is telling the truth. Oh yeah, none of them tell the truth. Never mind.

He's speaking about the vocal minority.

My 20 year old sister who's getting perfect grades while working part time at a great university is also pursuing a STEM degree in biochem seems to have twice the intelligence this poster does.

To bad she's paying 35k a year for it.

Maybe add an economy/sociology test as well. If you don't pass you can't vote.

Makes sense but people are conditioned to fight against you for suggesting this.
