I'd just like to put another word in for two relatively recent books -- books that deserve to be on most Top Ten lists, IMO, but which just haven't had the time to become true classics.

-- UFOs and Government: A Historical Inquiry, by Swords, Powell, et al.

-- The Myth and Mystery of UFOs, by Thomas (Eddie) Bullard.

Thanks for the recommendations. I agree about Hynek, and would add Jacques Vallee, particularly Passport To Magonia.

On the contrary, there is tons of evidence that some UFO's are not from earth. Maybe you just haven't seen it yet yourself?

10 years ago, it was an even bigger elephant in the room if I was to say the above. Not as much so today, because of the phenomenon continuing, and the propaganda against the belief in aliens visiting here is becoming more diluted now because more and more people are actually discovering the body of evidence by looking longer, researching more, and many are actually witnessing things more, so the lies against the reality are dimming in strength that they used to have. Ridicule is still the proven method of choice against the mainstream discovering what it is really about, and there is a dramatic increase now in the use of ridicule to combat this.

A pilot in the 50's use to laugh and ridicule the piss out of anyone even claiming to have seen a genuine unexplained object that did incredible things, and even wrote a book or an article called "The death of the flying saucer". or something like that.
And then he was flying with a co-pilot and saw some doing super fast moves and right angle turns zigzagging toward his plane, which messed him up real good, but he no longer spoke out belligerently against those who had witnessed those things anymore.
IT still doesn't prove anything is alien, but it shows they weren't made on Earth by any known power. I have seen them, so I know they are here, but that doesn't mean I believe every story I hear. The best evidence of all of course is having a close up encounter with one yourself.

There is still millions of dollars spent every year by our American military to get people to avoid the subject using every means possible without holding back in the slightest. Ridicule is still number one. Advertising that no evidence exists that shows this or that is also being widely used whenever possible, and even mainstream scientists will parrot these things hoping people never bother themselves to research it for themselves, and some don't even know if what they say is true anyways, and only say what is safe to say publicly.

I find myself that it is much better to avoid the entire argument and continue researching and experiencing things without any need to convince anyone of anything. I don't see any point in it.

People aren't going to award you with any prize if you prove something to them, and the ones screaming the loudest for proof remind me of the people you see holding up a sign by the freeway anyways.

You can keep giving everything to them and they will still be there by the same freeway holding up the same sign until they decide for themselves that only they can give them-self the thing they need the most, not someone else. But you can't tell them that, and even when you do, they won't change.

Except you (the collective you) have given us nothing. Keep blaming us though if it helps.

I've said it countless times before, that to me, finding out there is life elsewhere is the thing i want to know the most before i die. So why would i not want alien UFO's to be real. It would the most exciting day on earth, the best thing to happen to mankind and i could die a happy man. Show me something real and i will grovel and apologise and then get very very VERY excited. By the way, that's a rhetorical "show me "...i'm not expecting you to do any work for me, i know you guys are very sensitive to that.

So the people that believe there is not enough evidence to support the ETH are essentially the same as drug addicts, people with gambling problems, overeaters or porn addicts? Is there a support group for such people that are afflicted with....with this disease? Will insurance cover it?

Those are all your words and thoughts, not mine.
As to your questions, you should already know.
You give a clue yourself and can answer your own dilemma by reading your own reply, that those who "believe" there isn't enough evidence of the ETH. What it means and reveals is that you didn't do your research and are left with only a "belief" rather than a new understanding, which is what real research brings to that thing called your brain. Once you do that you are no longer limited to beliefs, but will be aware of the facts.

I know, that would mean not being so mentally lazy anymore and that might just be too much effort to bear.

It's okay, no worries, it's your baby.

No I really don't know if my insurance will cover support groups for my affliction. I'm really not even sure how to pose the question to find out.

So are you saying that anyone that doesn't believe or come to the ET conclusion hasn't done enough research to convince themselves otherwise? either that or they are having some psychological block that they need to overcome. I am pretty sure that's what you are saying. If it isn't, can you clarify without the "mentally lazy" comments. I'm feeling sensitive today.

nah, I put that baby up for adoption long ago.
