Didn't you know the whole thing was going to turn into an argument over what "socialism" is?

Everyone knows exactly what you mean, but "they" split hairs over semantic minutia at every opportunity to derail your train of thought; that no one else should follow it.

It's frankly becoming predictable and tiresome.

Which further solidifies my belief you aren't actually this hard-nosed conservative. I'm pretty sure it's all for the fun, and, as you said "striking nerves"...

This is what I asked, seems to be some confusion..

" So my question is, why is it that liberals want to make America more like the countries illegal immigrants flee from?"

And when you blame America for the failed states( and not the constituents ) and when you suggest we ought to take responsibility for these failed states, I believe you should define what taking responsibility means.

But according to the OP's definition, Sweden isn't a liberal country.

Apparently, liberal countries are places like Mexico, Cuba, El Salvador, North Korea, China, Russia, Yemen, Botswana...

You know... all those countries that embrace liberalism socialism communism Stalinism leftist drug cartel-ism.

You're making a lot of assumptions. The country most associated with the label "socialist" in Central or South America is Venezuela. Venezuelans aren't even in the top 10 countries of origin of illegal immigrants.

Interesting so these are failed states because of America, when you say ,"take responsibility" what does that mean please spell it out?

I don't know that I would say that the US is anyway responsible for Mexico's economic woes. It seems that they got drunk on oil revenue in the 70's and overextended themselves and then got hit hard when oil prices plummeted. More importantly, a single party (the PRI, ostensibly "socialist" but far more so in name than action) controlled their government for something like 70 years following the end of the Mexican Revolution and the government has predictably been long riddled with corruption.

I really haven't spent a lot of time reading about Mexico so I'm far from adequately knowledgeable to debate the topic.

Guatemala and Honduras are both prime examples of "Banana Republics" which have had repeated US political interventions in defense of the interests of US corporations. Essentially, you're looking at agrarian economies where nearly all of the arable land was owned by an oligarchy (like 90%+) that was in bed with American corporations such as the United Fruit Company now Chiquita and the Standard Fruit Company now Dole. You should do a little research into these companies, the situation and in particular, the Dulles brothers (John and Allen) and then you'll get a better idea of how our involvement has been detrimental.

El Salvador I don't know as much about but I know we've supported military juntas in El Salvador (including training their soldiers) that were responsible for disappearing dissidents, outright massacres, etc.

We only have a illegal problem concerning those countries south of the border why should I talk about something else? Frankly, importing and taking responsibility for thousands of constituents that helped create other failed states is foolish, I'm sure you could and would Assume the same position if thousand of Americans were entering your country illegally and becoming apart of your political system. Luckily unbenounced to many America is not not a failed state amazing right?

There is no country that people flee from that 'liberals' want to make America more like.

And when you blame America for the failed states

This is why I suggest you may not have a clear picture.

and when you suggest we ought to take responsibility for these failed states, I believe you should define what taking responsibility means.

Which I did, when I said that America should take responsibility for its' mistakes. The sentence before that was, "I believe in amnesty.".

But 'liberals' don't want to make America more like failing South American states?

Why do you think that?

Also, nothing about any of those failing South American states is even remotely 'liberal', most of them are police states or gangster states.

Nobody is suggesting America should adopt Mexican or Venezuelan economic policies.

Either you just want to rag on Mexicans or perhaps a little research is in order before you parrot back Trump and Rushs' division of hate.

No instead they are suggesting we should import "in droves" those who voted for and upheld these failed states and economic policies. They do not believe in securing the border, they believe in across the board amnesty for those already here and for the ones on their way, and yet this isn't a problem? These people burn flags, these people are vocally anti American! And while In some ways I have left leaning beliefs I could never agree with this ideology "hate America first" if more liberals thought like Bill marher I wouldn't be in disagreement.

OK, here's the map for those interested:

Yeah, I see ONE South American country. . . Premise for the the thread is off-base. I don't see Americans complaining about being inundated with Russian illegal immigrants.

but in defense of the OP's premise, Cubans have been quite actively seeking admission to the US by boat, and I really don't see too many US citizens making the news for trying to sneak into Cuba.

Just sayin.

The reason this argument exists is because people instantly think of North Korea, China, how Cuba was, Russia when the word socialism is brought up.

While most of us are thinking Switzerland, Germany, France, Norway..

If by liberal you mean Socialist my goodness that would be a terrible system to have to live under. Let me just check what horrible places they are.

Top 10 Socialist Countries

Yep! I'd hate to live in one of these places...oops I already do and "i'm lovin' it".

Huh! Not one of the top ten is warm all year round (Maybe except parts of China)

So much for South/Central America!

Well still beats the hell out of a Corporate Republic

Which countries? The failed socialist countries in the south are ones that are still in infancy and fighting a corruption of cartels they can't get out of.
We pissed on that carpet long ago, when it was the red scare and we sent military dictator after military dictator to quell any sort of revolution out there and laid the work of what we see today.
What countries specifically are you talking about btw? And lets see the numbers from which the immigrants come from.
Sounds like you are just begging a question until then.
