(Not sure if this is better suited for B&B forum..)

So it's been over a week since I've been able to log into ATS from my desktop pc.

I am posting with my mobile device.

At first I thought it had something to do with A) the latest DDoS attack, but that seems to be sorted out now; or B) some site changes and upgrades (to which I have not even noticed, but saw them mentioned in a few posts here or there.)

Then I thought maybe my dinosauric operating system might be to blame. But it was only ATS I had trouble with, the rest of the web gave me no issues.

AND NOW I am noticing I can open threads on my desktop, but the login page totally fails. It either does not respond, or I will get a time-out error. I don't understand why I can view pages and open threads, but not log in.

Any ideas? I am quite puzzled.

I really hate using my mobile. This site deserves ALL of my typing fingers, not just my thumbs!

Thanks for any help offered

Try clearing the cache. The pointer to the login page might have gotten mangled during the DDoS. You can find information for your specific browser online.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I did try clearing browser cache and cookies. No cigar.

What browser are you using on the desktop? If Firefox, there's an annoying little quirk it has where on my husband's computer, it refuses to go to many websites. It has to do with the proxy setting.
Go Tools, then click Options.
In there, click on Advanced, then click the Network tab within that.
Look for "Connection", and click "Settings".
Check to see what your proxy setting is set for. For some reason, his FF is hung up on defaulting to Manual Proxy settings no matter what we do, but it's all blank, so not much goes through and he has to manually reset that to Auto-detect.

So its a sometime thing, because you wouldn't be posting unless logged in…

'Timeouts' are a function of your service provider, maybe your internet upload or download is too slow. Servers will time out if your stuff is too 'dinosaur. Try a speed test, insure you're getting the speed you pay for and its sufficient to surf…

I use Okla.

Why do you log in and out anyway? Its not necessary..... as many of us never do.

Okay so how long does your system hang… before giving you a time out?

Ok so just an update, I am posting this from my desktop!

It looks like it was a DNS issue.

The site is kinda clunky for me at the moment, but I did actually manage to log in and post this

I had this problem earlier with my new setup. Found out that "no script" was blocking it lol. Just wanted to post this for any future users that might run into similar problems.
