Somewhere along the times something changed...

What happened?

Black and White did the same.
They left the church behind thinking it not "modern" enough.
Morals and ethics were left behind.

I tried to explain the why and how that came to be on pg1, these communities did strived organically, but did not fail organically, however like I said there were always highly successful AA communities that never received much press outside certain AA publications, an interesting book on this written about 20yrs ago called Our kind Of People.
It detailed the lives of the Black Upper Class , who is in and who is out, and it wasn't simply about having money as told through the eyes of an insider .

The softly derisive term "Bougie"
Is often used to describe their culture.

What happened to them truly was not fair. It was akin to what happend to the Jews in Nazi Germany.

People who were suffering from an economic downturn got mad because someone else they thought was supposed to be below them on the social strata had more money than them.

Making the mistake of thinking social status should correlate with wealth. It shouldn't. But also making the mistake of thinking social status should count for anything at all. It shouldn't. And further making the obvious mistake we can all see, of thinking skin color should correlate with social status.

So now if we turn around and try to forcibly steer the "pendulum" to "swing the other way", what does that accomplish?

In the first place, it won't fix the harm that was done the first time around. In the second place it will create a false sense of having fixed it.

All it does is keep it so when people look at a black person, they see "black", rather than "person."

America missed couple of critical opportunities in history to make a more perfect union, and it cost the nation in so many ways, for as great as America is ,we could have been greater and more advanced yet, if the ingenuity of all of it's ppl were properly utilized.

Not so off topic ,I have been looking into the life of Percy Julian a chemist born in 1899 whose life is nothing short of incredible, he was to soybean what Carver was to the peanut but forced to fight racism or seek ways around it, came across his bio on Nova by accident and he still made some incredible contributions in his field, imagine if he was left alone to do what he does best ..do science.
