The Australian version of 60 Minutes aired a piece on the F-35 recently. In it they interviewed the two RAAF pilots that are in Arizona training on the F-35. I know nothing of the Australian 60 Minutes or their proclivity to be objective or subjective (our Australian members will have to chime in to address that) on the subject matter that they touch on. It is nice however, to get to see the opinions and views of non-US pilots (like the Norwegian pilot's account recently) and contractors on the F-35 and the video has some info on the jet that some might not have heard before.

Which variant? The Aussies quietly canceled the F35 B contract last year because of the extensive ship modifications required to support the B at Sea.

F-35A models.

The A model is conventional take off and landing (CTOL), ground based. How are those to be utilized by the Aussies again? To defend their homeland from invading Chinese or Russians?

Pretty vanilla, not surprisingly.
Still, a lot more positive than our version of 60 Minutes.

It appears Canada is out, though keeping options to purchase open. The F-35 is an inappropriate design for Canada's need to defend our arctic.
