Ahhh,I just remembered that I have a victorian cook book about teas and biscuits.
I will go check out this book in order to get a better understanding of U.K. biscuits.

I would unreservedly take a sample of your wonderful sounding cookies, and thank you heartily for the offer...if only they had been offered to me!

mamabeth, when you wanted to bake cookies for our UK friends, your good heart as Queen showed through. The closest British baked good I have ever tried to bake was English shortbread. It turned out so so for me. Your cook book sounds neat, and if you ever try a recipe from it, may it turn out well.

" "WHADAYA MEAN I HAVE TO PUT IT IN MILKY SUGARY TEA FIRST ARE YOU GUYS CRAZY????"

The ancient art of "Dunking"

You have to be quick with a "Rich Tea" or the disaster of sludgy tea may occur

Hob Nobs ... Now that is a different story ... They can hold their breath for ages

I can, and sometimes do, but the tragic truth is that a large percentage of British people cannot cook, they can only open packaging, and warm packaged foodstuffs up.
It is an earner if there is a shortage of the things the market wishes.
The person/business that chartered the plane was sure the cost price would profit at the time they booked it.
Bet they made a tidy profit lol

One of the factory's is in Carlisle, about a half mile from my house and I can confirm that
it was indeed flooded.

I felt sorry for the biscuit factory workers when I first heard about the damage there.
I'm self-employed so no work equals no money for me, if it means the same for them from the flooding then I can empathise completely.

A factory full of soggy bourbons. Surely Nostradamus must have mentioned this.

English shortbread ? Sounds positively hellish.
No biscuit or shortbread shortage to report here in Scotland. Plenty of Tunnocks caramel wafers to go round.
Deep fried, obviously.

I am honestly unsure as to weather your referring to deep fried caramel wafers is in jest or not.

You know what really cracks me up about a story like this, is knowing that somewhere someone has had to consciously make this decision in a meeting. I can just picture it:

"yeah boss we gota problem, running out of hob-nobs"

"READY THE PLANE!!!"

That is the kind of meeting I would want to be involved in.

Would it make a better movie than 'Snakes on a plane'?

'Hob nobs on a plane'
'Jammy Dodgers on a plane'

Suggestions on a postcode please...
