Another office killed in the line of duty. Tragic, disgraceful to say the least. The most unfathomable thing about the story, is that the gunman
1. was ready to die
2. the gunman survived the round(s) he took

This was just an unprovoked attack, as the story touches on. Either way, I find this a tragedy, and sadly, this is a growing trend. RIP Officer Jacai Colson- 10/7,

CHEVERLY, Md. – Three brothers have been arrested in the killing of an officer outside a police station by a gunman who "intended to die during a gun battle with police," his department announced Monday.

Prince George's County police tweeted Monday that they now have a third brother in custody in Sunday night's slaying of Officer Jacai Colson.

Colson was pronounced dead at a hospital. The gunman was wounded when other officers responded, and is expected to survive. Police have not released any of the suspects' identities

A tragic loss to be sure. All the more so because it was a fellow officer that fatally wounded him.

But there are a couple of things that I don't understand:
1. The shooter opened fire on the first cop that left the station. Was he wounded?
2. Other than the alleged perpetrator, was anyone else wounded?
3. The officer that was killed was working undercover and in regular street clothes. But he wasn't wearing any body armor. Is that typical?

Condolences to his friends and family, as well as the officer that accidentally killed one of his own.
