I don't see the tiled avatars either and yes, I'm also on Safari. I'll update my avatar once SO finishes tweaking the site but I'll need an avatar artist that will be my eyes to see if the avvie is placed correctly. What is it about Safari, huh?

i don't know much about Safari.
Best bet is to post your questions in the Avatar Creations thread.
Those guys have the experience for various browser and image tricks.

It may be that S.O. has made the bigger avy only for desktop users, with tablets and phones not having it (to save on data usage for folks using 3g/4g connections).

but that is just me spitballing and trying to make some connections.

Yeah I'm still not seeing the tiled avatars but I do see the new backgrounds. I'm on a MacBook Pro 15" laptop so I think that falls into being a desktop user? If I recall correctly SO uses a Mac too, so perhaps it all looks great to him, but I would think he would check out the updates on various browsers to see first hand how the site looks to everyone.

I'm looking forward to getting the final word on avatar settings so I can go visit y'all on the Avatar Creations thread.

ETA: I also don't see the extended avatars that y'all have put up on the Avatar Creation thread. I only see the standard avatar with a lot of gray space below it.

Yeah I am using a very large image myself, its like 200x8700 it covers everything and beyond, very nice. You can check a thread of mine to see how large it is
