Yup, looks like unicode problem to me. Your computer confuses the code tags of characters and instead of displaying normal letter it displays funky letters far down the international characters list.

I can tell because the new "words" with funky letters are shorter than the original text. Many funky characters actually are composed of two tags merged together - so there's less of them getting displayed.

I don't have the problem on Chrome nor Firefox, could be tricky coding coupled with the fact you're on a Linux.
