I'd consider still being able to feed yourself at 107 a result but the woman dubbed the Dancing grandmother is dancing again to celebrate both her 107th birthday and being awarded the Presidential Medal of Honor for years of volunteer service , Virginia still works as a volunteer at her local school.

"She works one-on-one with kids. I think it's the love that she gives, the patience that she gives," said Cheryl Christmas, who directs United Planning Organization’s Foster Grandparent Program.
Last month, McLaurin fulfilled her dream of visiting the White House and meeting President Obama and the first lady. McLaurin was so happy during the meeting, she just couldn't stop dancing.

I think I'm old and I'm half her age. To what does she attribute her longevity?

Besides being stubborn I mean.

I know what you mean , she was in her mid 50s when I was born.
Kinda puts things in to perspective , I'm still a spring chicken !

I'm sure this may offend someone but, IMO people seemed tougher from that time.
We may be (or think we are) smarter now but, I really feel like they were just tougher.
I've seen examples of this in my personal life.

Wow, she's really amazing at 107. My mother is 94 and walked her entire life, but since the age of 92 has been stricken to a wheel chair and has lost all cognitive ability. A lot of people could only wish they could age so well.

Some people are gifted with good long life genes I guess. Who can dance at 85, let alone at 107! What a happy old soul.

107 yrs of dancin'.

I'd bet a bunch of money that she's been that way since she was a kid.

That's a shining example that should be emulated. Well deserving of the medal.
