Avatar Background trouble

I tried to change my lizard to a longer lizard, but it does not display anything in the background of the avatar, i put it there and use a transparent gif as an avatar



but nothing, to rule out my image is not adequate i stole another member background

files.abovetopsecret.com...

and the only thing i see is after i hit submit the link goes from img/ug56e3699c.png to img/ug56e369, so i think this is what is happening.

I'm using chrome if that's of any help, any suggestions?

Perhaps your background is of the wrong size (too long) and thus cannot display in the avatar box?

Recommended background size is 200x435 pixels.

Hm.

Have you tried changing the mini-profile background colour? I see it's set to a black colour, which happens to match your displayed background.

Yeah i tried transparent and other combos but the image i want to display doesn't appear, any image, even my old background that worked 2 years does not display now

Okay so we ruled out sizing and background colour as causes for the problem.

Next possibility: maybe your image address is altered? Any missing letters, even a single one, in the address will cause the image to vanish. Make sure it's really "http://" followed by "files.abovetopsecret.com/files/img/ug56e3699c" followed by ".png", no spaces.

I know the background image width is limited to 200 pixels but now the length can be much much larger.

There is a thread somewhere that explains how to do it, the only thing that has changed is the image length.

Just read the threads, huh? Seems this issue is all over today and why. Thats all Im saying.

I dont have the issue so Im sorry I cant be of direct help...other than say its being discussed a lot today all ready.

Oh...Shazbot, my apologies. That was directed at no one in particular. I was just agreeing with the OP that answers haven't been as forthcoming as we'd like yet, but SO will get around to it. He usually does.
