So an undocumented couple has a baby who was born in the U.S. The baby is now 3 or 4 years old, and the couple gets deported, but the baby can't be deported because they were born here. Now you have separated a mother from her 4-year-old child until she can get her application approved.

Here's what it says: "The Congress shall have power to establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization." You know what that means. That means Congress decides who becomes a citizen and how. To automatically say the 14th Amendment grants birthright citizenship, no, we can't change that.
