ATS ADS TRACKING & Browser crashing

What the hell is this all about?

I have allowed ads for ats but that doesn't mean they can follow me wherever i go on the net! They are now popping up in my email aswell as other sites i visit when my mouse pointer hovers over links to other sites or when just hovering over links within another site. This has gone too far... and why are certain words being 'underlined' and capitalised, then when hovering over it with mouse an ad appears? Again, i'm not allowing ats ads to allow this across the internet!!

I don't use ad-blocker on all my fav sites as it can slow those sites down but that sill doesn't mean i should allow those pop ups from ats to pop up wherever i go...

You never said anything about this in your thread about allowing ads on ats.

Not only that but my firefox browser has been crashing since i allowed these ads on ats.

Actually that sounds more like a malware infestation. Not necessarily connected to ATS. Probably quite difficult to confirm where you've actually picked it up from.

Tools such as (but not limited to) MalwareBytes or Windows Defender might help you get rid of the intrusions. Essentially "virus scanners" but for malware, not viruses.

Yes, your pc is infected.

And disable windows defender, it's no good, and do a full system scan with anti-virus and anti-malware software.

And stop visiting porno related websites, I don't say you do but if you do... lol

Actually that sounds more like a malware infestation. Not necessarily connected to ATS. Probably quite difficult to confirm where you've actually picked it up from.

I would definitely recommend malwarebytes as a first step too.

Sounds like you've picked up virtual herpes my friend - do a full scan and as above, get malwarebytes or similar.
You could have picked it up anywhere I guess.

First off, there is a good chance you are infected.
Second, Windows Defender is just fine on 8 and 10. I use it myself, and I'm a tech. Norton, Mcafee, AVG, and some others are more junkware than software.

Try running Temp File Cleaner. The site is safe, although you'll have to close a popup. Depending on how long it has been since you cleaned and maintained your computer, it could take some time.
Then run ADWCleaner. This is an adware/malware standalone tool. It is quite effective at what it does. Run twice if it finds A LOT.
Next, run Ccleaner FREE. Uncheck the freeware boxes, and uncheck the cookie scan. Also uncheck the view release notes. Unlike the other two, this program installs to your computer before you can run it.
In Firefox, go to the 3 little bar icons, and then to add-ons/extensions. Make sure nothing is there but what you put there.
I would also run malwarebytes and/or Hitman Pro free versions.

I have ads allowed on all my browsers, and do not have the issues you are having. But I also run Ccleaner daily. And BTW, if your ad-blocker slows sites down, instead of speeding them up. Something is wrong.

Yep....its just you and yours....most of us fine with no issues.

You've definitely picked up maleware....get rid of it...problem solved.*

*also block popups in your internet settings and disallow auto playing of videos.

It may not be ats after all but it ust seems strange these problems start occuring after I allow ads on ats.

I'll say 'sorry' for now to ats staff!

I've been looking at malwarebytes since i osted this thread so will probably run that. I also just cleaned my system using wuse registry cleaner & wise registry cleaner... seems to be fine now but i'll run that malwarebytes just in case and hope that doesn't infect my system with anything.

FWIW I Stopped using firefox and use chrome instead for everuthing. Far fewer issues and less crashing after i did that. Not a big fan of chrome but got tired of all the issues.

I have had to install an ad blocker just 2 days ago, because of some similar issues as stated by the OP. I alerted management at ATS that I have done this and why.
Presently SO and others are in conversation with me to see what the issue is.

I did all the cleanup rituals before having to install the ad blocker here.

Whatever it is, it definately is coming from ATS and they are working hard to troubleshoot and fix.

I don't have ad blocker but I see no ads when I am logged in. When I am not logged in that's when I see the ads. I'm confused..

Personally, have nothing against ads themselves. That's how websites survive, just like TV shows.

The problem arises with those that basically invade your machine and deposit cookies and/or trackers that essentially sell off everything you do. That was what moved me to load the ad blocking programs.

As far as ATS? Since the issue arose, I have fallen back on my Chrome Incognito that has no blockers but neither does it save anything.

To date, I have seen only a pair of ads.

Understood. The way ads work in general is one "parent" company may own many others. We get one advertiser paying...and they may own other companies and we get injected ads from them then based on viewing habits.

Look up companies like General Foods or Johnson and Johnson. They have tons of other companies they own...and BAM...we get slammed.

Well...I don't and never did....but these injectors are the culprits.

Sadly it's not uncommon for some adverts to deliver viral payloads. The two occasions I've ever had a virus on my computer, it came from third party adverts being displayed on websites.

(One was livejournal, the other was ATS.)

As I understand it the websites don't necessarily have control over which adverts are displayed to users, so if an infected advert slips by the company running the advert software, then it can be distributed quite widely before anybody notices what's going on.

You're a techie, but yet you use windows-defender? and probably windows-firewall too? I don't...
I don't know if you have an xbox, but if you don't, would you let the service running in win10? I don't...

Had this conversation weeks ago with a friend (works @ proximus isp) a verry good and well informed ict-technician.
He gave me a better pc to work with, in exchange I create vmware/centos/odoo scripts for his upcoming webshop.

He did install a win10 on this pc, according to him a perfect clean install...
It is now running a win8.1, certain services disabled and fine tuned.
He was full of madness because I trashed his (unfinished) work :p
But it was itchy for him to accept that you don't need the xbox service running if you only have a ps4...

Linus Torvalds would agree, you don't need the extra crap that comes with an os, it must do it's job.

Well... I cleaned my system with wise cleaner and wise registry cleaner... I also used malwarebytes which found a problematic reg key which wise didn't find. I may of had an add-on to my browser which was causing the ad-tracking probs mentioned in op (ws video player I think it was called, deleted it now). I will see if the problems come back.
