Trump is one of those things that is causing a whole lot of Bruhaha when if you step back and look he was Never intended to be a real candidate.

I will disclose at this point of course I am not in the Trump or Anti Trump camp in so much that a Ron White (Tater Salad) Voter can be.

Looking back at the start of his campaign your seeing a Moderate if not all But Democrat in all but Name, Jump on the Republican Ticket, His first words was "Build a wall and Make Mexico Pay for it." That would be the action of someone wanting to Make a statement on how messed up the US political system is. It could be assumed he was expecting to get run out of the Race in the first polls...

Then the Unthinkable Happened.

People Liked what he had to say, a lark for the laughs suddenly got a little too real.

So how does he try to turn it around, simple he goes even more bombastic and outrageous, tries to live up the architecture that was created by a joke.

It Back fires hard core, it was not meant to he was trying to sink his campaign intentionally with out saying "I give up." He was after the bragging rights of being a former candidate not the idea of being The front runner.

I am willing to bet as June gets closer we will watch him intentionally weaken his stances and or totally flip flop to try and loose some of the support he never really intended to have in the first place. It was a miscalculation on the Anger at the Government he did not count on.

The Man has been openly trying to commit political suicide the whole time and the public is eating it up, like Cruz eating a booger.

His main thrust was to open discussion on things he saw as being ignored by the Mainstream candidates...

I have the feeling if he is Out voted in the primary with out any dirty tricks being pulled he will walk off with out a fight, it is now a matter of honor and pride he goes out that way. A dirty trick to get rid of the guy who should have been Ron Pauled aka Media Blacked out in the first place will only get him to do the thing every DNC and GOP pundit is afraid of and that is Run Indie.

Why is an indie run so scary for the GOP simple look at Ross Perot, but why would such an independent run be deter-mental to the DNC, they just showed their hands in the handling of the Witch and the Burning Itch, No matter which one of those two get it Bernie by a Miracle or Hillary by hook and crook the loser's followers would jump on an independent Trump run like there would be no tomorrow.

That would be the nightmare scenario Rubio vs Hillary vs Trump, Trump would split both the RNC and DNC vote and as anyone can tell you two Halves Make for one Big Hole...

Could be....

Trump revealed more about the electorate than expected. In the very near future we will watch the dogs attack and eat the owner when his true colors are revealed.

Should be an interesting side note to the theater of the absurd known as election politics. Best show in town.

Never intended to be a real candidate.

That is how I saw it also. Maybe he was bored and wanted to play for a while. Heck, he had more money then he knew what to do with. So have a good time. And you are right I think that he kept tossing out one liners and jokes and pompous windbag kind of stuff just to see how far he could push the envelop. But the envelop just kept getting bigger and bigger.

I would not be surprised to see him somewhere down the line just yawn and wave good by to the whole thing.

So, assuming:
1) Republicans admit he wins and he gets the nomination
2) He wins the electoral.
3) He says, "Nah, just kidding."

Now what?

This has been discussed outside this forum. In his books, Trump focuses on a three-year plan of action. Nothing worth doing should take longer than that. So if he stays true to that methodology, it's possible he packs up in 2019 and hands off to his Veep to close out and have some experience on hand to run for the big chair in 2020.

As much as I would hate to see it happen, I think he will run the entire course if he wins the primary...

And if he wins the office then I can see him pulling off the stunts from his book, 3 years to get er done and then hand off to his veep like Teikiatsu said.

If he looses ligit with out dirty underhanded tricks then I do not foresee him trying any stunts.

Thoughtful OP!

I agree Trump may get out while the goings good. Or he may have been reminded who is running this horror show...the elite Bilderberger types who want Hillary or some other neocon.

...And that's why lately you hear Trump talking about flexibility.

Yeah, then what? To many permutations for me to guess any more. Half way through the show down with Hillary he tosses in the towel and his VP takes over. How can we know what he would do from day to day. I have tried to stay open to understanding him and must admit that he still has me baffled.

Well I missed that discussion and have not read his books nor hear of his three year plan. But from all I can gather from what I have seen of him over the last period of time this scenario that you suggest is one that is quite possible. As I suspect, along with our OP that he began this almost as a lark, should he win it I think the novelty would have worn off for him by then and he could turn it all back over to Christie, or who ever he chooses as VP. Actually this does sound viable to me. He can take that three years to set an agenda for big business to frolic and then go off and reap the spoils. But what do I know.

Somehow I think that the comedy writers over at cracked are sourcing ATS for materials,

I think that's a pretty safe bet.

Even if he HAD the GOP support though (and he won't), or even if he ran independent, he wouldn't rack up enough electoral votes to win the Presidency, even if he won the popular vote. (which he wouldn't).

This is pretty much Hillary's election to lose.

Interesting theory on the Trump self-sabotage. But, I don't think his ego would allow such a thing, lol!

He will be the last nail in peoples ignorance and this countries downfall.

I cant wait. I will not hold back the "I told you so". I may just react like they did to our warnings. Ignore on and cheer forward, blah blah blah, keep him now.......

come the day after the election day, im going to have a big laugh.

if Trump really thinks he's going to win, he should be able to do it even if he runs independent. which he should do considering the GOP boos him over and over. its sad because id like to hear more about Kucinich, oh well.
