I agree with that whole heartedly. people don't know what to do. but if everyone did something, ANYTHING. the collective result would be the very change we are needing. Something as simple as bringing this type thing up at work or with neighbors. not to argue the politics or what tv said, but just the fact that if we don't come together we are all done for... things would change. I believe this is what we are seeing now, the ball rolling under its own steam.

can they give us the ultimate bait and switch? yes, in fact if history is any clue they will. That can't and wont stop what is starting. If they do the puppet they get to pull the trigger will be ruined. If it is Trump his empire will fall.

Our common ground is that we are all on the menu and if we do not change the direction we will have no country left. No prosperity, nothing. Our children will pay for our inaction. It is what we have in common that will help us shape the future not our differences.

There is a lot of truth to this article. Trump voters, the Tea Party and other barbarians on the right want the "right" to be destructive, obnoxious, selfish, immature, asses and they're tired of people trying to make them be civilized.

They're also tired of not "fitting in" the economy, however a lot of it's their own damn fault. They don't want to spend the effort to get educated despite being warned for decades that education is the path to success. They waste tens of thousands of dollars on silly things like monster trucks and dirt bikes and quads and then claim that the government is bankrupting them with taxes.

But they are right that the business and corporate world has been screwing most Americans. Too bad they helped let it happen because they believed fairy tales from morons who sold them on deregulation, tax cuts, massive military spending and basically letting the wealthy elites run the country.

You mean by being in the majority of jobs that don't pay #?

Because no amount of education can create jobs that don't exist for them to work at.

Over half of the country's jobs are service sector, retail hotel etc...

There aren't any good jobs for the number of folks that are qualified for them.

There are many folks with degrees that work these low paying jobs. Because they are the only jobs available. Because they are the majority of jobs in a post free trade borderless America.

"These Americans want a kind of freedom—a freedom to hate." No. The wealthy want the freedom to hate which is shown in poverty and keeping people who work, purposefully poor and treating adults like children by purposefully witholding knowledge from them in things that matter such as having to get a prescription from a doctor for antibiotics when they are ill when they can prove they have a bacterial infection with over the counter home testing kits. The adults words, even with proof, is not good enough. Meanwhile, human grade anyibiotics are given to livestock daily and human grade amoxicillin and penicillin for fish can be purchased by any adult. Just one example of many.

"They want the freedom to use words like (fill in the blank, removed for T and C purposes)" No. It was again the ruling wealthy who invented bad words in order to criminalize those who spoke out against their oppressors.

" They want the freedom to idealize violence and the gun culture." No. The wealthy keep the gun culture a center of focus to keep the attention away from the biological, chemical and space weapon culture they fund.

"They want the freedom to have enemies, to physically assault Muslims, undocumented workers, African-Americans, homosexuals and anyone who dares criticize their cryptofascism. " No. The wealthy purposefully created vastly different cultures and life styles a long time ago to keep them entertained and to keep every day people divided.

"They want the freedom to celebrate historical movements and figures that the college-educated elites condemn, including the Ku Klux Klan and the Confederacy." No. Those groups are focused on to keep the secret movements, secret societies and hidden hands secret and hidden. The movements mentioned in the quote came about during the industrial revolution that will evolve into a total robot workforce and scapegoating people became necessary to follow through with it.

"They want the freedom to ridicule and dismiss intellectuals, ideas, science and culture." No. The veil had been lifted and we see the older wealthy with white bonded teeth or perfect implants and the older poor toothless in ill fitting dentures, not because they want them but because they can't afford the better. The high cost is ridiculous to the poor and is mere change to the wealthy. Intellectualism is relative. Ideas are repeated and none are new. Discovery is information that is not hidden anymore. Many discoveries are kept hidden to continue opression of the working poor. It is the wealthy that is afraid to share information lest they lose their status if all became enlightened.

"They want the freedom to silence those who have been telling them how to behave." No. It's the other way around.

"And they want the freedom to revel in hypermasculinity, racism, sexism and white patriarchy" No. This encompasses all cultures and tends to heighten only when resources become limited or unattainable. It also manifests more on a larger scale when men oppress other men, then the opressed men mirror the opression from them on towards women who become their scapegoats. All tied into poverty and slavery. A content, happy, enlightened and wealthy community had no need to oppress one another.

Trump excites because of the love of money. We need a President who excites because of his love for people. Jesus Christ isn't running as far as I know but if He was, a lot of people would vote for Him because that is what they want. Other people to love and love them and a President who loves His people.

A College degree is no longer an indicator for financial success.

People from trade schools now earn more than average college graduates.

The problem is they lowered standards so far to get more paying customers and started making up stupid liberal arts degrees in gender and racial studies that are absolutely worthless.

College does not make people smarter any more than allowing unqualified short people on NBA teams will make them taller.

College degrees used to be worth something when you actually had to be smart and use critical thinking to get in and graduate.

I tend to agree with much of what Hedges writes but by his logic the civil rights movement was "fascist" for being a bullied underclass. Can't rebel without getting some label stuck on you, right? Hedges hits on some core truths but then extends it ridiculous lengths like when gun control arguments go towards "then you should be able to have an Abrams tank in your garage".

C'mon Hedges, you're a smart guy but you''ve gone over the cliff with hyperbole and historical fear mongering. Writing as if Trump gets elected you can expect the lynch mobs to be hitting your streets. Yeah, lower and middle class Whites have had it - as have Blacks and Hispanics but it's been the 2 party system pitting the American people of all races against each other. There's no basis for any organic hatred between them, its the endless stream of propaganda from the MSM and University elites making tired connections to racial tensions and acts from years ago.

Most Americans have changed their attitudes about race tremendously over the last 50 years. Without outside agitation and forced competition we'd get along fine for the most part. It's a shame to see a writer the quality of Hedges stirring the pot for God knows what reason. He's extending his personal hatred for Trump to everyone who'd vote for him out of desperation for positive change. Shame on you Hedges.

This is true but I would say to them:

I have always been politically incorrect. Always been under represented. Made to feel white guilt, social survivors guilt, had my communities stripped and torn down, my sub cultures attacked and ridiculed and so on.

I am not such a backwards person to FORGET the struggle or the American ethos. Such things like looming federalist ambitions have always been part of the US. The wanton surge of federal mandates and coercion to undermine states rights and individual rights.

If they truly cared they would delve into their own self education. Their motivation would gear them to overcome their isolated world and find kinship with the past great thinkers, the past great rulers and the past philosophers that teaches people like us how to survive the tides of human retardation.

They can act indignant and take advantage of the chance to hate, sure. They could also have taken the YEARS offered to them to improve their minds and their station in life. If I wasnt such a damn idiot starting out I would not be able to tell them they have no excuse. You can improve your disposition and your access to power. Its not all furry and frustration because you are an idiot. Soften your heart and be humble enough to learn. They cant. Proud apes.

They choose to not meet anyone half way. They are left overs from a bygone era of supreme rulers who tell you what to think and who to hate. They are fickle and look for the most idiotic to support for the DUMBEST reasons.

That is not a population that can sustain a democracy. They live like its a spectator sport, like they only have to pay taxes and yell when they dont get their way.

The negative qualities this article says are a product of their disenfranchisement are NOT the end result of it. These things are a compounding element of their minds they have NO CARE to overcome.

Like the liberal authoritarians or the conservative authoritarians. The have consistently voted the most extreme because they are a people of bells and whistles. They respect bad ass comments and cool sounding resolutions. Not meeting people half way and doing for the good of THEIR PEOPLE.

Even their supposed libertarians are liars. They want freedom in certain areas and to ensure their freedom they want an authoritarian hand of government to protect their freedoms.

No, the rising American fascism is not a product of poor people trying to make their way through the mire. They are pigs reveling in filth that they create.

There are no innocents. It is in their nature. They dont get to say poor me, society made me this way and now its pay back time. They have been on malice and payback since day one. Hence why they are where they are and WILL NEVER rise out of their crap station in life or MIND.

They are forever our curse. The damned barbarians that when hungry or horny or angry destroy what civilized people build, only after usurping what we build first and then bringing it to its knees trying to make it reflect their animal, soulless minds.

If they be born to liberal communities they become radical liberals. If born to conservative communities they become radical conservatives-

Really they are just radical authoritarians always running from their failing empires and ruined countries into the good grace of our well built ones only to bring us crashing down with similar absurdity.

They need to die off, or be sent deep into space (the sun)

They are the problem. They have forever been the curse of civilized men. They want to pillage, and take from others. They think malice is intelligence. They dont see that every step of their progress was learned from other cultures they ultimately betrayed.

Europe using jews for wealth creation and then killing them off many times before the holocaust. They left penniless in every instance of expulsion. The Norsemen riding off the advancements of Rome and other communities that kept them from killing themselves off in petty tribal war and starving from retarded agricultural practices. Barbarians sacking Rome because they were not Rome.....the burning of Alexandria, the method of conquest of the Americas.

The list goes on, and you will say thats just human nature, but I say its more.

We are not all the same. Some have evolved more in mind than others. Others refuse to and always will. They are what ever label you use on them and are for what ever reason you say,

I call them animals and know that civilized men have been struggling to survive thanks to them since we left the caves and they followed us, copying everything we do and then ruining everything once they use their brute strength to satisfy their frustrations with themselves.

If someone posted what you just did, replacing "Trump voters, the Tea Party" with "Obama voters, minorities" and "monster trucks and dirt bikes and quads" with "rims and grillz and bling," you'd be coming unglued about what a racist bigot the poster is. Check yourself and your Obama privilege at the door and join the rest of us here in constructive reality land.

Trump voters just want the rights enumerated in the Constitution and by common logic. The logic that states a man should be entitled to the fruits of his own labors and oftentimes, truth hurts. It shouldn't be up to the speaker to ensure no thin skinned zeros are harmed by words, it should be up to the listeners to either thicken their damn skin or extract themselves to their safe place where the big mean words won't assault them.

www.corpwatch.org... Good description of neoliberalism can be found at this linkwww.corpwatch.org... for those not familiar with its usage.

"Neo-liberalism" is a set of economic policies that have become widespread during the last 25 years or so. Although the word is rarely heard in the United States, you can clearly see the effects of neo-liberalism here as the rich grow richer and the poor grow poorer.

I am going to jump in on this one because its something my son and I were discussing only yesterday as the affects of these policies have been felt in the UK basically since the 1970's.

I am wading in on the (if I may) lower middle class), those, often highly skilled who quietly go to work and feel today that their values and worth are considered as fodder by the politicians and their puppet masters. In the UK this angst doesn't apply to race because we are a mixture of a lot of different and interbred people, but we make up that particular class that gets ignored, over taxed and treated as though we have no right to any opinion except the 'official line of keeping quiet' and of course working consistently - provided the job hasn't gone abroad.

Its as though this part of our culture is being slyly erased and everything we stand for such as honesty and transparency - because we are so spied on you can't keep anything quiet, is fine for us whilst the elite live in impenetrable heavily fortified (by the institutions such as the police and courts and LA) ivory towers far above our heads.

Policies are now in place purely to silence and control us today that penalise us using freedom of speech to express our values with prison and the destruction of our reputations. Another thing that has slyly come in is the deliberate disempowerment of people physically. (Not going into the rights and wrongs of physically defending oneself of acting because you have to) except to say that were we ever to have to defend our country or fight and take ordinary people into our armed forces - God help us because most would be too scared to even push someone let alone fight them.

I don't think the control lies even with the corporations that are running the world and creating a new form of slavery, what we have is actually worse because its the control of just a few people which is quietly grinding on purely to lead to civil wars in countries and in some, we can already see the camps being set up to take the prisoners who won't shut up.

The modern term hate crime is a complete misnomer because hate is an automatic human reaction that regardless of what its directed at, is part of our nature. We can control those things we shouldn't hate ourselves perfectly well by reasoning and experience But there are policies and things like political corruption and especially unearned privileges for some over others, that we naturally hate and have every right to hate. We indeed have that right because we are the exploited in order to provide those privileges in the first place, especially in countries like England, where if you are white and English you are on the bottom rung despite the fact you and your ancestors built those rungs in the first place. Going to hell in a hand cart - probably.

In the UK there was a deliberate dumbing down in our whole school system and we took away the exceptional high standards of exams with the old GCE's and put in lower standard GCSEs. We were told it was because of so many people coming who didn't speak english who had to be given a chance la la la! The real reason was though that educated people, no matter whether English was their first language of not are better able to question government and take it to task.

If you look at the politicians of up to the early 1960's, if a scandal broke they left politics in shame. Today you have the legacy of men like Blair who hung onto his power despite the shame of lying to the british public. Many people so corrupt make it into public life because those who want to control the huge funds and policies these people will be dealing with, finance their campaigns to get them elected in the first place. We also have a lot of very wealthy family politicians where money and not brain - as in cameron put them in place.

We have had to up our craft skills because of the need for these skills. If anything we have suffered with too many graduates who have come through the worst form of brain washing in the country at the moment, the university education.

Last night I went to a prize giving for star who work in our local NHS trust. There were no end of 'craft' qualifying people receiving their diplomas, one of my sons in fact. What astounded me was the Chief Executive who clearly well connected seemed to struggle with people's names on occasions. She didn't even try any 'foreign workers names' and even the English ones seemed a challenge at times. For someone of her salary and obvious qualifications to do the job erhm erhm! I was quietly shocked.

They are sick od the ruling class making laws that favor big international corporation, insurance companies and big Pharma?

They are upset that college tuition has quadrupled disproportionatly from other economic indicators just in the last two decades and health care costs are even worse despite the most hospitlals declaring themselves non-profit?

Thats racist and fascist!!!

Oh don't forget about being tired of the crappy economy given to us by Washington. I get laid off every year for the last 4 years and all I want is a dependable job. Now for granted I work offshore but what used to be dependable work is now contract and seasonal. I for one am fed up with the corruption of the political class and I am equally fed up with the welfare class. I think it's time We elect someone that will whip those two groups and bring them into line.
