That's one of the reasons I made the thread. The whole conspiracy only seems to work in non-free health care countries.

Seems a bit strange.

(I'm in the UK too btw)

Exactly, strange indeed! It doesn't make sense in the UK, for example, where millions do not pay taxes and where everything is free, from vaccines to chemo and everything in between. And if you stay in hospital, regardless of your employment status and salary, you always go home with free meds.

It just doesn't make sense....... and you are in the UK too so you can understand exactly what I'm talking about.

I completely understand.

I used to live in Finland and they have free health care too.

My wife has heriditary cancer, so does here father, brother and our daughter. All treatment has been free, from simple doctors checkups to having 90% of her large intestine remove and, in her fathers and brothers case, an iliostony bag.

Between the 4 of them they have 3 different GPs, 2 different specialists and visit 4 different hospitals.

And they/we haven't paid a penny apart from travel expenses.

I'll post this here as well, as it applies to this topic more-so:

So I looked up the side effects. The inhaler, a device used to treat asthma, had a strong likelihood of causing severe asthma. After two days of use I threw it away, told the doctor, which he stated he has never heard of that occurring, and it took about 4 months for me to return back to where I was before using it.

Interesting
That reminds me of the bad heartburn I would get.
I was popping 3 or 4 tums a day.
It seemed like my body became accustomed to needing them.
I threw them away one day and drank water or chewed mastic gum instead.
Within a week, the heartburn episodes went away. That was 5 years ago.

Sorry to hear about your wife and daughter, but at least you live in a country where you know they will get excellent medical care and free.

Most European countries have free healthcare and the same goes for 58 countries in the world. How does that explain the Big Pharma conspiracy?

I think it comes down to..

-misunderstandings,
-misdiagnosis,
-a lack of trust due to the first 2 points.

What was the name of the inhaler if you don't mind me ask. The medication that is...

The secound.

I work in big pharma on the R&D and production side in QC.

Honesty and high standards are drilled into us and the documentation and 3rd party inspections are extreme!

The dodgy practices are done on the sales, marking and clinical side as you said. That side of the company the scientists have little to no control or contact with.

I am sure you do a good job with the best of intentions
The profits at all costs people though are another matter...
I have heard of pharma salesman gifting doctors to take their products

Yep, I agree, I would say 'lack of scientific understanding' and 'lack of business knowledge'.
But hey, maybe someone who believes in the conspiracy will be able to answer my question and make me see something I don't.

The only argument I've heard from the conspiracy side is its about money. I've never heard any other explanation.

I think they are purposely avoiding this thread, so I will keep on asking my question in other threads.
lol

I've noticed that too.

I also see there's another "theory" of big pharma. They're trying to slowly kill us all.

How exactly does that work when we are living longer then we were 100 years ago?

Logic seems to be lost on some.

LOL and don't forget making people infertile, which is also not really working, is it?

I've not heard that one.

So, "they're trying to kill us and make is infertile" even though the opposite is apparent. And it also goes against the "they're just out to make money" theory.

Wouldn't it make more sense to use actual data? It could be something like "they're not killing us or making us infertile so we can live longer and they make more money"? I've never heard anyone say this though.

Pharmaceutical giant gets rid of all its patents in developing countries

Health experts have welcomed an announcement by pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline that it will stop seeking patent protections in developing and low-income nations, which will allow cheaper generic versions of name-brand drugs to be sold to the public.

Big Pharma is not what it used to be!
lol

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are the big pharma conspiracy theorists going to do now?

Oh, wait. They're doing it cheaper so they can poison EVERYONE!

/sarcasm

It's funny how "big pharma" are out to kill everyone yet we're living a lot longer than we did 100 years ago. More diseases are being cured than 100 years ago. But if you ignore all that, they're out to kill us lol.

But it is true, they give away a little now so western medicine might become more popular than traditional ones, people will exchange drugs and get hooked. Within a few decades, countries might have a thriving pharma business and that is when they'll come up with new laws or just reinstate patents. They don't have anything to lose anyway since they don't have that much of a market share. Better to make a buck than nothing since the medicines are unaffordable.

I don't think we live longer just because of medicine, there's also surgery, general increase in intelligence, better living circumstances (better quality water, heating) etc.

I also don't believe big pharma is out to kill everyone, it's more like a farmer and his cows. If the cows die, the farmer will get less.

So you're saying that it's all about money?

What about the 58 countries world wide that have FREE health care?

Medicine is one of the major causes of a longer life.

Intelligence doesn't make you live longer.
