The left inboard fairing, ahead of the hinge, is bigger than the right inboard. They put the RAT in it.

I've never noticed

What was the worlds first jet powered flying boat?

I want to say the Saunders Roe A.1, but that might just be "fighter".

Where can you find the acronym T.F.H.B and what does it mean? (Without violating ATS policy of course).

As soon as I'm sure that the Stature of Limitations has expired there's a story about a Navy helicopter, a styrofoam cooler and two cases of Budweiser cans 5000 ft. over Orlando I can tell.

Yep. We were coming back from AUTEC and at the time a six pack of Bud cans there was $1.00, so I loaded up a cooler with two cases and ice. I had it sitting in the back of the aircraft for when we got back to Jacksonville. We had to go around a storm so we went inland near Orlando and we hit turbulence causing the cooler to slide out the cargo door. It broke open and the cans falling looked like the old movies of bombs coming out of a bombay in WWII. Some of them had to hit a house or a car, but, we never heard anything about it.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

They tried to transport a live Christmas tree from Japan to the US. Didn't have the right paperwork for it so the got rid of the problem at altitude somewhere over the US.

No, you're correct. It was the SR/A.1

That was good. Ever hear of the shredded UPS truck? I think that it was in 1985 at Cecil Field in Jacksonville Florida. An A-7 pilot didn't safe his cannon when coming back from the range. He landed kind of hard and the cannon fired. The shells went down the runway across a field and hit a UPS truck on 103rd street. The driver wasn't hurt but the back of the truck was shredded.

I have a soft spot for SARO, so I wasn't sure if it was confirmation bias coming out haha I DID know it was the first jet-powered fighter in flying boat config.

If you like Saro, do you know about the P92? Five decks, 24 RR Conway jets and 1000 passengers in cruise liner luxury. One of the most unrealistic projects ever seriously undertaken. I did a thread featuring it several years ago.

That's the one with all the engines mounted way outboard inside the wing, yes?

Yes that's the one. It's a fascinating project, but it was insane that they thought they could do it.
