"Global Trends 2015" Terrorism-Related Excerpts (EDIT- updated)

I read this article and found that the trends could be more than possible if people havn't found a way to kick the current political system out of power. Global that is, not just in the USA but in numerous countries that have been plagued by tyrant like rulers.

I found parts of the report to be contradictory - does the removal of leaders reduce a state's links with terrorists, or increase the population's predisposition to air their grivances physically? Is the US military superiority a terrorism deterrent, or an attractor?

One striking thing:

"Between now and 2015 terrorist tactics will become increasingly sophisticated and designed to achieve mass casualties."

Is it wise to engage in removal of unpopular leaders?

What not invest in infratsructure and security measures in vulnerable locations, rather than wasting money on illegal wars, or stripping every citizen of his or her rights?

It's a very touchy topic, as none seem to know exactly who is a freedom fighter and true terrorist do to the media spinning things out of context. Our western media only reflects half the story. Don't take me wrong, I know true terrorists have goals bent on nothing less than destruction and anarchy.

I agree with you though, we are wasting resources on events out of our hands, and it could be more useful if used in the right places.

It is indeed a very complex subject. Politics. Economics. Religion. Philosophy. Intelligence. Geography. History. Science. Engineering.

Is there anyone who can really say that domestic security, as represented on 9/11, isn't the first thing to be fixed?

It must be so comforting to know that all of those failures have been repaired, and there is no need to release anything in the public interest from the Commissions on 9/11.

The only thing terrorist want is the west (espically the united states) to fall and zionism and christanty to be wiped off the face of the earth. thats it! or have us all convert to islam. HA! ill freaking kill myself before i do that.
