The Arkansas Air National Guard's 189th Airlift Wing has been tapped to help test a highly accurate, high altitude airdrop system using the LITENING targeting pod, mounted on a C-130. The aircraft supplied were previously modified with external stores pylons.

The system will eventually be able to measure wind speeds before a drop, track drops after they leave the aircraft, provide accurate data of the ground area to select landing zones, and allow aircraft responding to natural disasters to loiter over the area providing responders with valuable data.
