Socialism is basically an excuse to continue being as uncharitable as possible. They care for lofty ideas, not people. Bernie provides the youth with that consolation.

You realize all the money we think we have is debt and print out of thin air and isn't backed by any hard assets right?

And Bernie has a magic WAND to make more of it, right?

*smirks* and your little comment sounds like the condescension and derision I'd expect from a Trump supporter. Or was Cruz your particular flavour of cruelty?

Marxism is the real cruelty.

You should read some BOOKS. They're all over the place. They talk about it.

Hell, the Internet has stuff about it too!!

What's your solution to the continuation of technology replacing the need for a human workforce?

Just let everyone starve and die?

Then why produce so much?

That's one of the weirdest fallacy laden posts I've read.

I don't understand what you're asserting. Do you have a point?

Good afternoon ATSers

I've been reading a lot of post about confusion over why so many American's like Bernie. Really I don't understand why this is so hard to understand. It's as easy as taking a look at every other candidate, whether Dem or GOP. EVERY single POTUS candidate is a lying, oxygen stealing, bought and paid for puppet; people are getting sick of it.

The shift in awareness has begun, and IMO younger Americans are no longer buying into the BS and are demanding change. Let's be clear, I'm not saying Bernie is the end all be all for positive change; really at this point it doesn't matter. He has ZERO chance of winning anyway because the super delegate nonsense that rules our voting system ensures that grass roots candidates don't stand a chance. This is a whole other issue in itself. The fact of the matter is that for his supporters, it feels like a breath of fresh air to see a POTUS candidate call out corruption.

Today's politicians and elites take Americans for idiots. They blatantly lie and take money from corporations such as big agro and big pharma, then pretend that no one notices. They are bought and paid for my interests that have the $$$ to create policy in this country, when in all reality the people of America and their interests are what should be creating policy. This has been ignored in this country for wayyyyyy too long and people are just now finally getting sick and tired of it. Why has it taken so long? IMO, awareness and mindfulness is growing and spreading, and it's about time. The baby boomers, not all but for the most part, have ZERO independent thought and believe anything that is told to them. Fear is what controls them and that won't change. The younger generations are asking more questions and won't take BS answers seriously anymore. This should be considered a good thing, since America is being taken down slowly by elites who think they should be the ones controlling us.

If by some crazy chance Bernie does win POTUS, NOTHING will chance because our brain dead, archaic congress and senate will fight him every step of the way on any policies he tries to implement. This would be a great thing as well because all they would be doing is getting these new voters out to the polls in greater numbers to vote not just for POTUS but to boot them out of DC as well.

This thread is not about supporting Bernie or socialism or any of his views; it's about acknowledging that a change is finally occurring after being LONG overdue. Hillary and all the GOP candidates are puppets and don't give two sh@ts about the American people, all they care about is playing their game and making their $$ and power. Fear is what fuels denial, which most people still live in about this topic. It's scary for one's belief system to come crashing down and the ego does it's best job protecting people from dealing with it. Oh well, too late.

I reckon Ron Paul could take a bow for Berinie's success.

Can I just point out, speaking as someone with an underdeveloped pre-frontal cortex, that all of the boomers in this thread throwing around "socialism" like its a dirty word are the same ones that get to benefit from SOCIALIST programs like Social Security and Medicaid while the later generations (ie MINE) are going to be fuvked?
Thanks for the economy guys, you rock!

That said, Bernies policies, love em or hate em, has nothing to do with OPs post.
The point is Bernie is the only one calling out Washington's plutocratic oligarchical BS and that's why people are listening.
We are sick and tired of the corruption and deceit. Whether or not you support his policies, candidates like Bernie are the ones we need. Left or Right. America needs a whistleblower.

Social programs does not equal "socialist" programs. Don't fool yourself with that nonsense.

The Nazi's and the fascists did it too.

You must be new around here because you are not very refined when it comes to the art of debate. It's ok I'll let you get your legs.

Good to see McCarthyism is alive and well on ATS. Let's kick out those damn commies and liberals. They are hiding everywhere. paranoid America. Always needs a bogey man to rally the folks against. Not satisfied with the Muslim scare, better move back to the old Cold War commies.

so·cial·ism
ˈsōSHəˌlizəm/
noun
noun: socialism

a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

So when Uncle Sam takes taxes out of my measly paycheck for Social Security, Medicaid, Welfare, etc.
is it not being distributed to these programs and back into the community? And somehow that's not socialist?
Perhaps we are working with different vernaculars here. Maybe you just blindly use socialism, communism and nazism as interchangeable buzzwords? is that it?

The Nazi's and the fascists did it too.

The Nazis were all white people.
Hitler had a moustache and was vegetarian.
Your point?

Pic related it's you:

HA HA HA H A AH HA .

That was a joke right?

Obama has been as bad as anyone who can count to 2 thought he would be.
Lies lies lies, expanded wars, bailouts to banks, wall street, auto makers, less jobs, more debt, more inflation, higher cost of living, more cronyism and corruption, cover ups, more terrorist attacks.

Should I go on?

Sanders is drumming up the same support from the same idiots as Obama did. They want the Govt to give them everything. "Free stuff" Who's going to pay for it? Short of putting a gun to the 1% ers heads, they aren't going to cough up the cash willingly.

Sounds a lot like the folks who wanted that "Obama Cash"

How anyone can support any of the candidates in this race, regardless of party, is beyond me.

His point is that he's convinced that robots will replace all human workers in the future which is, of course, absurd.

a reply to: BrianFlanders can you give us some examples of socialist propaganda that American culture is riddled with
I remember hearing about Bernie sanders before I joined ATS, I just remember seeing an honest looking old guy. He looks trustworthy and has a great accent. I liked this guy way before Obama an was surprised at how little attention from ATS members, but that was when everyone was waxing lyrical about the Ron Paul. Again another man who looked normal and spoke with honesty and integrity even though, I wasn't a supporter of all his policies, some people just look like they have integrity and can be trusted. Unlike trump and Clinton who both look like they have walked off the set of the hunger games.

Machines have been replacing humans for centuries.

Let's just start with the printing press.

Please explain why it's absurd rather than just saying it's absurd.

It might lend you more credibility.

"Socialism omg their going to take my money wahhh"

That's what I keep reading.

No, that's what you keep thinking, and then you add ... and I will get some of what is taken.

I could care less about the money. What I care about is that I work hard for what I earn, and I think I have a right to whatever it is that my labor produces. For all you know, I am growing cows. They are mine, not yours or anyone elses because we have property rights.

Socialism abolishes those rights in order to take my cows and make sure everyone gets some.

All you see right now is that my unfair cows are taken away so that everyone gets equal access to cows. What you miss that if I don't fully own my cows, it also implies that you will no longer fully own any of your stuff either ... whatever that may be ... and that what the government can come take from me, it can also take from you in the name of making everything fair and equal.

Of course, none of you care about this as you don't think you have anything worth taking and you likely haven't already had government take much from you in any form. You think you can only stand to win from this transaction so you are all for it.

You rail about materialism and greed, but for the reasons I just outlined, you are no more pristine or moral than anyone else. You want just as badly. You just think you are morally superior because you don't have anything worth taking, but you still lust after materials goods just as much as anyone else might and that's why you are all on fire to have what someone else (my cow) made taken from them and given to you.
