Ottawa, Canada is a rather cold city in the winter months, and we're used to seeing temperatures closer to -20 C at this time of the year! Never before has the temperature risen above 0 C so often.
In southern Finland start of the year has been "just" 6-8 C (~ 11-15 F) warmer than average.
January's rain records has been also broken in some places.
