The US Department of Justice announced they are taking the town of Ferguson, Missouri, to court to force changes in policing and the Justice system in
the town.
DOJ waited until the town council voted unanimously to adopt a consent decree but wanted to make several amendments to it, including delaying some of
the changes the decree set down. The DOJ said the vote by the town council was unfortunate and that they (DOJ) intend to aggressively prosecute the
suit. The lawsuit alleges a practicd and pattern of unconstitutional police actions within the town. Ferguson officials have no comment on the matter
until Thursday at the earliest, and haven't seen the suit yet.
Opinion: I fully expect Loretta Lynch to be all over this. She's the one releasing comments for DOJ, and seems to have made it very clear that this is
a pet project for her now. I think this will be interesting to watch how the town government handles it.
