The US Department of Justice announced they are taking the town of Ferguson, Missouri, to court to force changes in policing and the Justice system in the town.

DOJ waited until the town council voted unanimously to adopt a consent decree but wanted to make several amendments to it, including delaying some of the changes the decree set down. The DOJ said the vote by the town council was unfortunate and that they (DOJ) intend to aggressively prosecute the suit. The lawsuit alleges a practicd and pattern of unconstitutional police actions within the town. Ferguson officials have no comment on the matter until Thursday at the earliest, and haven't seen the suit yet.

Opinion: I fully expect Loretta Lynch to be all over this. She's the one releasing comments for DOJ, and seems to have made it very clear that this is a pet project for her now. I think this will be interesting to watch how the town government handles it.

Yes this will be interesting to watch. Has this happened before at such a scale?

"These violations were not only egregious, they were routine. They were encouraged by the city in the interest of raising revenue," Lynch said Wednesday. "They were driven, at least in part, by racial bias and they occurred disproportionately against African American residents of Ferguson."

Too bad they are making it a racial thing and not a Police corruption/conflict of interest thing.

Gotta do this so everyone is looking left rather than watching her refuse to address Clinton's emails.

Fantastic news. Not often that Uncle Sam does right by the little man.

Next stop: Albequerque.
