Of course you can share it with others, but to me forcing you to share it with others is an infringement of your own right.

Yes it does, but why should it come from income taxation? There are numerous countries who provide government services without income taxation. Antigua and Barbuda is the latest of those countries who have abolished personal income taxes.

My aunt lives in the Cayman Islands where they also don't have any income taxes. The government covers their costs with import duties, working permits, taxes on tourism etc...

So who pays for the services?

Thank you for digging deeper and I did read the data. But I still disagree. I believe the private and the government have to work together on all social problems. How do they become problems if individuals and private parties are efficient and effective.

Ahh.
Didn't watch the video, so not responding to that - just to your post:

your argument is petulant. "Say Please First - Don't Order Me Around!" So - what is your understanding of how much the uber-rich off-shore bejillionaires do or should contribute? Yes, there are 'foundations' and 'grants' - true philanthropists.....
and yes, they contribute to education and foundations that are non-profit....Bill&Melinda Gates, for example.

So, but there are some who don't contribute ONE PENNY toward the benefit of society. How would you divide the lot of them between those who give, and those who hoard?

How about if every person worth x amount of 'money' is required to start a foundation and distribute the money as they choose......as in - required - as in, they HAVE to do it, or they are stripped of their citizenship entirely.....
How about that?

Does that work for ya?

Excuse me, I know you're staff - but this just doesn't make sense.

There is a clear ceiling to a standard of living that is perfectly comfortable - and beyond which it becomes redundant for the 'owner'. One can manage only so large a fleet of private planes or expensive yachts......but, maybe I'm wrong.

Tell ya what, my nephew works for some uber-rich guy as his "financial advisor" - my nephew isn't even 24 yet. The Koch brothers flew him down to Wichita for a private interview (in their private plane) and offered him the same job, but nephew turned it down on principle.....(as I understand it)...he went with the second offer.

I'll ask him about how it is next time I see him.
Really, though - if you have infinite money, why can't you share it with others?

Again, who are you to determine that someone has exceeded a necessary standard of living? 80% of the stuff we have nowadays isn't necessary, but that doesn't mean I am willing to lower my standard of living.

I already answered that. So did Esoterotica, the poster to whom I responded and offered applause.

But - okay, I'll answer this one:

Again, who are you to determine that someone has exceeded a necessary standard of living?

I am a compassionate, concerned humanitarian person.

Who are you to hoard your money and decide who is not homeless or hungry or sick or ignorant enough to be worthy of help?

Were are too far away in our belief and opinion to come close to any agreement with each other. I'm done.

Once again. I hate the use of force or coercion to impose my will on someone else or for someone to do the same to me. The golden rule.

Yep! That's it exactly. So - I don't see how we are at odds. But, okay.
Thanks for the convo.

Personally, I can see why people are falling for his crap, because they are angry. That is the same reason that Trump is popular.

People will fall over themselves to support any theory that puts the blame on someone else. Hence the continuing nonsense throughout this and other similar threads that "all we need to do is take all the money from the evil 1%ers who are hoarding it".

People fall for anyone's crap as long as that person isn't telling them to take responsibility for their own lives, fix their own mistakes, and/or - and dear God this is apparently the cardinal sin to end all sins - benefit from their own success.

Seems people have decided enough is enough and now either wealthy can put money back in the economy or people will elect people to come and take it? What do you think. I mean it is silly to allow the wealthy to have so much while people working 8 hours a day cannot pay for shelter and food.

The way Casino's make money..is by running stats that give them a little under 10%...that makes them steady millions flowing from the players to the casino. Like diverting 10% of a steady stream of never ending water.

Taxes pay the bills in this country...so when the wealthy pay less taxes on the flow of cash that comes their way ...the money begins to pool at the top and drought sets in on the middle class.

I have no issue with Rich People...I have issue with a system that rewards them more for simply parking that money rather than investing it in economic growth and putting it back into the economy. What investor in their right mind would put the money to work in the economy if they can make more money after taxes just sitting on it without risk.

The system is rigged like a casino...the steady thumb on the wheel pools the money at the top. this also creates an increasing burden on the already stressed middle class to make up the growing shortfall in tax revenues.

It's not a fair tax system.

We need to disincentivize parking the money by stripping the tax loop-holes given to those millionaires and billionaires and giving tax breaks for real investment in economic growth.

Yeah I got no issue with rich people either. I got a problem with the unfair system in place. People who work 40 hours a week in the USA should be able to pay rent and eat.

I have a problem with the fact that the wealthy hoarding wealth leaves less in circulation, and also with the fact that massive accumulation of wealth in the hands of the few is destructive to democracy and equality.

I also have a problem with the 90% tax figure. Who comes up with this crap?? I also have a problem with the whole "you're taking my money, damn poor people!" Whine. About 85% of your current taxes go to big business subsidies. About 6% goes to social programs. Changing that statistic around a little does not equate to stealing. It's just spending taxes on those who need, rather than those who want a little more profit.

Import duties.

Who pays for the imports? And what makes you think import duties are not a form of taxation?
