GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - A loud explosion was reported near an Israeli army post in the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday.
The blast occurred near the Rafah refugee camp, a frequent flashpoint in fighting between Israeli troops and Palestinian militants. Witnesses said the
outpost was on fire.
Palestinian officials did not know the cause of the blast, and the Israeli army had no immediate comment.
The explosion occurred as Palestinians were voting in presidential elections. Israel had eased its military presence in Gaza and the West Bank to
facilitate the election.

This may be an attempt to provoke the Israelis to react and hinder the elections. No doubt there are extreme elements on both sides that do not want
to see any sort of stability in the area. This is a developing story and few details are available yet.
