Actually, why not take 100% of everyone's income. Everyone can have a free house, free car, free cell phone, free health insurance, free food, free cable and a free weekly entertainment pack. Now I cannot guarantee these items will be any good or improve over time because innovation will likely die off and we can't afford to give everyone the best stuff. Everyone will have an assigned job mandated by the government. No one is without anything then. They have no choice in what they get or eat or see in TV, but everyone is with and no one is without.

Why is that different than what you're proposing? That's selfless isn't it?

Bull#, the speed limit affects everyone on the road.

Everyone is affected by medical issues as well. Everyone has accidents that incur medical fees.

Under your socialized healthcare, would doctors and medical staff be paid what they are being paid now?

The Medical Association spends more money than anyone else in lobbying to politicians in order to raise their pay. Their pay is a product of strong arming politicians into approving policies that allow them their current pay, meaning they pay more than oil and defense companies to influence policies.

If you're in the medical field for the pay, you're not doing it for the right reasons. They will be paid more than enough to live off of either way.

You don't know what free means obviously. If they're taking 100% of your pay, those things aren't free. How do you continue to make that mistake?

If you do not pay the best doctors the best salaries they will go somewhere that does.

You're missing my point. Why is my idea any different than yours? I care about people and want everyone to have and no one to be without.

There is a reason people from all over the world come to America for medical procedures.

Good luck buying food or paying for a house without a job. Or are you under the impression that visiting the hospital is all you will ever need to survive?

You're steering the conversation into something it is not about. You're being disingenuous.

Where would they go? We already pay our doctors more than any other country.

So the answer is no.

Medical professionals would get paid less under socialized medicine.

You know who else would get paid less?

The people who make medical equipment.
the staff that works the OR.

An entire economy would see a cut in pay thanks to socializing medicine.

You want to tell them that they will get a pay cut for the greater good on top of higher taxes?

Do you mean in my world? Everyone gets a house and food. In the current world? There are jobs but people don't want to do them or have the skill set to do them. We should focus our energy on providing skills to people so they can get those jobs. People are picky, though. People don't want to live within their means or abilities.

You've been civil and fun to debate with, so I thank you for that. I hope we get to discourse again in the future. I'm going to go to bed now, though. I respect your opinion, and glad to see that you seem to respect mine (even if we vehemently disagree on certain things).

That's probably why they put so much money into lobbying, don't you think? They're the same ones who have convinced you that universal healthcare is a bad idea. Not because it will cost you more money but because it will cost them a little bit of their pay, though they try to sell it in different ways. It's a simple case of greed and selfishness.

There's a reason hospitals charge so much for their services, they WANT you to be forced to pay insurance, it lines their pockets at the end of the day, plus the ones who don't have insurance pay exorbitant prices. It's a win win for them, a lose lose for us.

So you tell the person making 20 bucks an hour constructing IV tubing, that he'll have to take a cut in pay because medical expenses are too high.

Therein lies the problem they have created. I think we've gotten to the bottom of it here, people valuing money over helping others. This is the fundamental tenant of the capitalistic system, making an extra buck.

What does the bible say? "For the love of money is the root of all evil", that's no more apparent than in the capitalistic society we have built around us.

No, I said that people value money more than helping their fellow humans. There's a big difference between that an what you said.

Can you point out in the bible where it says to be the bitch of government mandates?

Thanks.
