Definitely, yes. It's for the press. She wants to come out of Iowa saying she 'won' because that's what will be reported in the press. Not a draw, not a loss. And perception is everything.

Particularly after the damage done to her campaign last time by being the 'loser' in Iowa, it opened the door to Obama.

Hillary better be careful and not get too cocky. I almost feel like that declaration of victory was a sigh of relief from her, but this isn't over yet and Bernie is breathing down your neck.

Yeah, apparently she got 49.9% of the vote while Bernie got 49.5%. She'll be awarded 23 delegates to Bernie's 21.

Edit to Add: I think a lot of the "win/loss" rhetoric is more for promotion and press. It sounds a lot "better" saying you defeated your opponent than saying you tied your opponent, even if you both get the same delegates. Kind of like "based on a true story" or "made with real fruit juice", which sound more complete than they really are.

Yep...it's all about the delegate count since Iowa now splits theirs. Going into next week and New Hampshire, Bernie is riding high. He'll take New Hampshire. South Carolina might go Clinton...

By declaring victory she has accomplished exactly what she wanted, even on this site. She has gotten people to talk about the winning aspect of this instead of everything that went on to allow her to declare she won.

90 missing precincts cause a delay in the vote counting, 6 coin tosses, all called heads by 6 people in 6 different locations. All occur at the same time, all come out heads. What are they odds? Get 6 people you know to try it and get back to me.

Even bigger than that is the fact that all we kept hearing about is the new Microsoft app that would count things electronically, in real time. Do people not understand what that means? Votes can't go missing and there cannot and should not be a delay. It's Real Time people.

But go ahead, keep talking about what she wants you to talk about. Keep talking about what declaring she won means versus a tie instead of yet another crime committed by Clinton and the big machine in front of everyone that she will get away with because even people like you, people on a site like this that should know better, aren't even talking about.

I don't support 1 thing about Sanders and would never vote for the guy or any of his policies but the guy got robbed last night. Another victim of the Clinton corruption. But man, no wonder these people do whatever they want. Even the people who you think would care turn a blind eye or simply can't see.

Look ol girl really have nothing to celebrate after all the establishment endorsements the bank moneey and prep since 08 yet ending up with less than she beat an unknown skinny Blackguy with a Muslim name after 911 is a great loss. she can dance all she wants but still she won by a coin flip to a socialist Democrat, I think she should wander off in private and have a good cry...then again maybe the private crying thing is an ol school dude thang.

If i recall correctly, she was informed of Gaddafi's death during that interview, and came up with that statement. Even if my memory is wrong, it doesn't matter. The fact is she led a charge into Libya under faulty pretenses and made that comment of a man who was murdered without trial. She even had the tenacity to laugh about it.

She's a psychopath who doesn't know how to organise her own emails, let alone engage in foreign affairs and run a country.
