Those damn socialist road systems across the country are keeping us down.

You mean the roads which are falling apart all over the country? Because the funding isn't there?

Ohhh, okay.

I know people who travel the USA.

From California to New york to Florida and Washington.

Truck drivers, tourists, business trips and more.

The roads are never, ever brought up.

You're blowing this one out of proportion.

Other things are! The food - The air quality - The traffic... So it's not like people spare details. If the roads were all crumbling, I think I'd hear it?

Are you just going to "LOL" through the thread or actually explain your "roads" post.

Are "ROADS" your evidence to why Socialism is good for us?

Answer please

The roads around where I live are terrible. And do you honestly believe that those construction projects happen on budget and on time?

I am all for privately owned toll roads with zero regulation what could go wrong. I am sure that system would be so much better for your wallet.

China tolls most of its roads and expressways, which are government owned.

If the federal government wants to maintain national highways- I don't like it but I can live with that. Let the states deal with all that.

The real role of the government from my perspective- should be national defense and that's about it. Everything else they touch is corrupted. All these great ideas about how great Socialism is fails to take into account the corruption in politics.

Socialism did not work under bush. It's not working under Obama. It's not going to work under Bernie Sanders. This idea that socialism will somehow fix the very problem that it is causing, it's a little crazy to me. More of what does not work will not make things better. We need to get back to freedom and liberty. I remember when being liberal meant that you believed in freedom and liberty. Not anymore :-(

We need to get Obama or whoever the next president is out of our doctors offices, out of our schools, out of the econonmy and many other various aspects of daily life.

We need to go back to Freedom. Modern socialism is politicians covering for Banks and big businesses at the expense of the poor and the middle class. Socialism is- let's all be poor together, while politicians and their friends make bank. But don't worry you'll have a free meal, housing allowance and maybe some healthcare. :-/

Everyone will accept this because our socialized educational system has produced very dim minds. I don't know if graduates can even read, write or do basic math anymore. But that's OK, more socialism will somehow help the problem... Yikes

We hear the argument often, but government services, public works, and public expenditures is not "socialism" by any stretch of the imagination.

interesting. I support Bernie because I like freedom and liberty. He was one of the only ones that consistently voted AGAINST the patriot act, AGAINST the expansion of CIA/NSA wiretapping/information databases on everyone, and against all these fun little wars that have radicalized islam, shifted trillions of dollars from us taxpayers to crony industrialists, reduced our freedom and security, etc.
These are, I think, the largest expansions in government power in recent history, and Bernie is against and has voted against, all of them. Strangely, the republicans, otoh, who all espouse being for "smaller government", has almost unanimously supported them all (as have most dems as well).

you folks act like Bernie's whole platform is that he's going to "DO SOCIALISM!!!", like every idea he espouses is to create socialism. How is breaking down the big banks socialism? Sounds like enforcing democracy and anti monopoly policy to me. How is ending of our spree of wars around the world socialism? Sounds like diplomacy to me. How is getting corporate money out of politics socialism? Sounds like anti-fascism to me. How is using tax dollars to fund education and healthcare, rather than propping up bad business models, socialism? Sounds like good social policy to me.

So I guess what you guys are saying is that socialism = democracy, anti monopoly, diplomacy, anti-fascism, and good social policy. Hm. sounds horrifying. Wonder what that makes capitalism.

Did you read mine? I said what the government does is not "socialism", unless it is a socialist government.

I really do you like that aspect. But sadly there's too many other areas of life that he believes government should dominate and not the individual. My understanding is that he still wants to control the economy, education, healthcare, high taxes and the list goes on. I guess different politicians may want to control different aspects of our lives. I want them to stay out completely.
