Alphabet- Google's parent company- has surpassed Apple as the world's most valuable company after its latest earnings report.
The company posted net income of $4.9bn (£3.4bn) for the fourth quarter, an increase from $4.7bn a year ago.
The announcement sent its share price up as much as 9% in after-hours trading.
That means that Alphabet is now worth around $568bn, compared with Apple, which has a value of $535bn.

Google dethrones Apple as the most valuable company in the world

The king is dead. Long live the king.

Apple is no longer the world's most valuable company. Today, thanks to strong revenue growth across Google and other units, Alphabet has dethroned the maker of the iPhone and Mac.

Google parent Alphabet was set to pass Apple as the most valuable company in the world on Tuesday. At Monday's after-hours levels (which technically reflect an indication, but not the real-world value), Alphabet's market cap would roughly be $570 billion, eclipsing Apple's current market cap of about $535 billion.

The last time Google was more valuable than Apple was in February 2010, when both companies were worth less than $200 billion. At the time, Apple had yet to release its first iPad, the newest iPhone on the market was the 3GS, and the Mac was the company's biggest product line, accounting for one-third of revenue. Steve Jobs was still at the helm.

Just to let you know guys.

I don't see the loyal fan base Apple once had anymore. Lots of competition and not enough innovation. Been downhill since the death of Steve Jobs

Still, they had their best Q4 results/earnings this year and a record-breaking revenue and profit.
Personally, I love Apple products and hopefully they will break the ground again in September, with their flagship product, the iPhone 7.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

All Google does is transfer any profit via Ireland through Holland to Bermuda.

To not pay tax!

So there is no value.

Sorry to inform you...
Your information isn't accurate.
All you inform us with is the:
Bamboozled figures.
E.g.: not being the real info.

It's what they want you to think.
Not what is real.

And again: sorry if I hurt your feelings.
Just intended to break the:
Wow-look-how-very-rich-they-must-be-bubble

Because they're not rich...they're dumb bamboozeling greedy money lovers.

That's:
-dumb
-corporate
-greedy
-every harsh, name calling, insulting word you can think of.

If war breaks out?

I'm going to bomb their p.o. box # company first.

No more tax avoiding through me!

Easy mate, you are taking it all a bit harshly I would conclude.

I ain't said nothing. I didn't state any opinions either, I was merely INFORMING about the news that everyone will read tomorrow anyway.

BTW, you sould like the tax money would be dispersed according to the needs of the plebs (people).
C'mon mate, you know that ain't right.

And please, stop calling me names as if I have hurt your feelings bruv.

The most depressing thing is that both these vast mega corporations pay little, or no tax in the UK.

I really don't know why Britons buy iPhones and use Google.

UPDATE: as Google's shares dip, Apple is the king again.

Apple is the most valuable company.
