The wind was battering us here on the west coast. Trees were falling and signs were toppling. Found it super hard to sleep because of the noise. If you listen closely you might here some wind in the background!

So here it is
La Nina Wind

La Nina Wind

They said that you'd be coming in the summer of 2015
Warming up the waters for me
Well the beach was full of people and the ocean was as nice as can be
Yeah you lured me deep out to the sea

As a breeze was gently blowing, I thought I heard a melody
Muffled by the sound of the palm trees
It sang a storm was coming, but I whispered that I wouldn't flee
And I let the waves roll past my knees

I know California's in a drought
But don't you leave it crying on your way out
Don't go shaking up my house down south
With all your thunder and your rain clouds

Oh you go and make me spin
'Cause you know you pull me in
And then just like the wind,
You blow me away

You got so emotional the winter of 2016
Knocking down signs on the street
Well my driveway sure was flooded, lawn full of mud and debris
Waiting for the San Diego heat

These rainy days
And 10 foot waves
Won't scare me
I promise you I'll stay

Those windy skies
And lightning strikes
It might get as cold as ice
But I want you by my side

I know California's in a drought
But don't you leave it crying on your way out
Don't go shaking up my house down south
With all your thunder and your rain clouds

Oh you go and make me spin
'Cause you know you pull me in
And then just like the wind,
You blow me away

And then just like the wind,
You blow me away

Just read the lyrics, can't listen here at work, but:
nicely done! Songs written in the moment are great (I mean, if they're good, of course.)

I'm going to write one about my insomnia last night. It will pale in comparison to your writing, but it's from the heart:

Almost midnight, falling asleep, sweet oblivion after a trio of hours the previous night,
@#%^ 1AM and I'm awake, back sore and the mattress springs are Satan's deftly-guided horns,
4AM, about to drift back off, 3 year old wakes - falls asleep when I leave for work.

Still working on the last line, but it goes something like this:
[Snip] [snip] [snipping] [snip] [snipper] [snippering] [snipped] [snippy] [snip] [snip]

Anyway, I promise to stick to just bitching and moaning about my sleep deprivation instead of putting it into song if you promise to keep writing.

hahaha!

The best lyrics are the ones written from the heart. Usually that's the most relatable right?

I promise to keep writing as long as you promise to write whatever your heart desires!

I have to say that I seldom visit this forum, but I am glad that I did it this time. That was a very good piece of music.

I seldom hear any song that I like the first time. This was an exception however. I hope your work gets more exposure than just this venue. I'm sure that I'm not the only one that will like it the first time they hear it.

One question that I have though: Hasn't California been experiencing an "El Niño" rather than a "La Niña"?

Thank you for your kind words Dexter!

I need to work on my social media presence for sure. I've just never been so enthused by blasting my stuff everywhere! However, I really enjoy sharing on ATS. Mostly because everyone's been so genuine in their feedback.

As for the El Nino. You are correct, California is still facing El Nino. La Nina Wind just seemed like a more appropriate title as a love song.

Thank you so much for your works, and for posting the lyrics! My hearing is shot, and therefore I miss much of the lyrics.

I really enjoyed this song. Truly. It touched me, and I like the harmonies. Did you sing your own harmonies? Beautiful tune. I can hear it in my mind with a background guitar that is really rough and hugging the melody line.

Ah, there you are! That was just beautiful my friend! Did you share this one on facebook? If you did, I missed it. Always look forward to your new songs, but you already knew that.

Thank you, argentus! I do sing my own harmonies and I just want to make sure my lyrics are heard and understood. I take a lot of pride in the words that I put into my songs.

Funny you say that, because I'm going to put together a final version with some guitar in it! I'm very excited!

That's another reason I like you so much. You are talented and you are an ATS member. Doesn't get any cooler than that!
