I would worry more about what we are not told and not about work done in the UK in the public eye under tight ethical controls and with the whole world looking in.

I have no doubt in my mind that some unethical "private research" is taking place somewhere in the world and when we read of these types of stories who knows if it helps those in the unregulated aspect of that field of science to further their research?

I'm with you on this. Even if there are good people with good intentions, their research can be stolen. Or some may have morals and ethics and others can be bought for information. I wouldn't trust it.

What say you all that want government out of the private sector? This reeks of unregulated capitalism (and would have already gone a lot further without prior regulation). What about not legislating morality? I agree that it could get a bit creepy, but it often seems that the same people that want government to back off, don't actually want that, but just want to also pick and choose how they intervene.

Well, the Olympics will certainly get interesting over the next 100 years, unless they decide to limit participation to humans who aren't genetically enhanced. That's sure to piss off the Mutant Rights folks, though.
