awwww boooo hoooo that fox news girl is mean and unfair to me!!!!! geez Hillary (not a fan by the way) should challenge him to a one on one debate, the guy would probably blow a gasket right in the middle of it! my thing is if trump can't handle tough reporters and reporters asking him questions he doesn't like now what is he gonna do if god forbid he wins the presidency?

He had asked Fox to donate some of the profits to veterans .. Fox said no.. Trump said you and Megan can basically do your own thing I am out of here.

That is such BS!! This had nothing to do with Trump wanting to give some of the money to Veterans.

He Trumped out because he didn't like the way Fox, especially Megan Kelly treats him so he bailed. All the Veterans stuff is just a cover. He already said why he wasn't going to be there way before anything was ever said about Veterans. Even the Veterans know he's full of it and said they wouldn't take any money from him because he's just using them to cover his butt.

Opinions on this thread show how far we have fallen. Seems a lot of people here want the debates to be a mud slinging fest equivalent to the intellectual level of jersey shore. It's quite sad.
Tells me a lot about trump voters.

Why don't we just have candidates joust, winner gets the nomination if the people are really craving entertainment and not actual thought.

The debate was much closer to how a debate should be.

Your political system is a joke, its barely a democracy, in fact I would argue that if funding ($) is the overriding requirement to get elected over political ideals then is sick beyond a cure.

Dont get me wrong, I dont think any other democracies are better, it would be better if there were rules, like a football game (yes the european, american and australian rules). You attack a person you get sent off, grow a pair and let your policies do the talking and stop attacking the other party candidate personally, its pathetic and childish and takes away from your "professionalism".

Monetory caps, a campaign can only spend X much, like a wages cap in the old school (and still in Aussie Rules), it stops clubs buying a medal.

Media - any obvious bias and you are banned from reporting it (I made that up but it would be nice).

Level playing field, present the policies that you want people to vote on - each party gets up to 100 and voters blind vote on the policies they want most....then any U turns on popular votes you have to have a referendum.

Politics are BS nowadays, its time for wholesale overhaul.

He doesn't debate his ideas when he is there, he just talks about how he is going to make things happen.

Or if he gets frustrated/called out just starts attacking people and insulting them.

Just an FYI, this isn't the UK and not one of those people you mentioned is running for President of the US.

So why you would bring them up or that happening and compare it as if it should matter is a mystery.

The amount was 5 million and has been on the news and probably on the video I posted. Believe what you want either way it won't change things ... So far Trump is leading in the polls and it would seem no matter how hard TPTB try to show him in the absolute worse light he still maintains his lead. Popularity and democracy make strange bed fellows sometimes. .. Next month it may be a different set of numbers and them maybe you can sing the praises of your favorite candidate. I personally think they all suck in varying degrees.

It really is a shame we do not have a block on a ballet that says, "none of the above".

After listening to the latest greatest debate from the repubs I do like Paul's responses.. But things will need to drastically change for him to get a shot at POTUS

Because the thread is about whether it will have damaged Trump by not appearing on the live televised debate with othet candidates. I was simply saying the same thing happened here ladt year before the GE and many thought it would damage David Cameron's chances and it obviously didnt.

I dont really know why you need to be so aggressive about it but I do understand your frustration it happens a lot when there are discussions about Europe and UK suddenly it becomes about America and gun laws or the Mexican border. However, I wasnt trying to make this about UK I was trying to show maybe it wont have damaged Trump!

EDIT Sorry now I understand why the aggression you obviously detest Trump and cant bear the fact that he may become President regardless of whether he has turned up to this or not. Well I dont think it will have damaged him. A lot of people are getting sick of the slick, corporate persona of politicians and just want straight talking, honest politicians who appear to be in touch with the normal cutizens.!a reply to: mOjOm

It will not damage his chances one bit. I actually think what he did was take a page out of Rand Paul's playbook. Rand skipped a debate as well once he was booted down to the "lower tier" debate/ Instead Rand Paul held a town hall type of event and he probably got more exposure than he would have had if he went to the debate. As the news cycle spent more time talking about his town hall event than they ever did about any of his previous debate appearances.

Trump held an event in Iowa instead of going to the debate. 2 Candidates are being reported as having gone to his event. As a matter of fact, it's pretty much all I have heard so far. The only thing I hear being talked about as far as the debate, is the opening shots taken at Trump who was not even there. Other than that- they are talking about Trump's rally.

He will get more exposure from this than he would have gotten from being at the debate.

Debating hillary in a real debate, not a Fox sponsored slam Trump event would be hilarious. Trump has no censors, and hillary has TONS of dirt.

I think it is funny that many of you have such a hateful attitude towards Trump. So must so you can't see the reality of what Trump is/has done. (Pst: In case you didn't know... Ronald Reagan didn't do the pre-Iowa debate either. Seemed to do him well wouldn't you say?)

You're as bad as Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN.

You appear to be looking at him as the TV present him... CLOSE up. No crowds etc. That is exactly what the MSM wants. They don't want you to see the thousands upon thousands of people in support of him that attend his rallies/speeches. At almost every event they have to have another venue for the people unable to get into the "room".

Go ahead with your blind ...... ignorance.

Hillary was speaking for a BOWLING ALLEY last night while TRUMP ..... well. The rest of us know the real going ons.

GET OF ATS a little bit and start pay attention instead of getting you info from here.

RESULTS-so far, as of 7:42 E.S.T from the DRUDGE REPORT's poll (I assume too early for the other outlets-I'll be watching etc)-You too can vote-it is still active.

TRUMP 65.52% (349,163 votes)
CRUZ 16.84% (89,740 votes)
RUBIO 6.56% (34,962 votes)
PAUL 5.51% (29,379 votes)
KASICH 1.17% (6,216 votes)
CARSON 1.16% (6,178 vote)

You don't realize the nature of what Trump did last night, apparently. I did watch the Trump thing, instead of a debate, he got to appear magnanimous when he gave Santorum and Huckabee time during his event to plug themselves and their campaigns, he appeared generous when he donated a million dollars of his own money to vets, both intelligent and generous when he developed his own charity so that no administration fees were taken away from veterans in need of the donations, and got to spend a lot of time plugging himself. He showed himself gracious and efficient, and when fox asked after the debate who people thought won the debate, most people were answering Trump.

Trump does media better than media does media, he has been doing it since 1974, longer than some people in the media have been breathing. He played it right; not only did he improve his polling numbers he picked up a lot of democratic voters too. On a democratic call in show last night, many people were saying they had been democrats, but were now voting for Trump.

I would not be surprised if he pulls off what Reagan did, I think he might just come fairly close.

As for the media, they constantly misrepresent his words, constantly harp on things that don't matter and refuse to discuss the things that do, and all Trump has done is prove to the world that the media are not our friends nor are they doing anything for the people - which actually puts more people behind trump, because it is a witch hunt without merit in the modern world.

IMO Trump won the "debate" by hosting this veterans event.

I guarantee he earned more points with the anti-establishment crowd.

That's because you're willing to dismiss anything he does. Like him you won't face reality and will continue onto more blunders as if they are victories, but they aren't.

Everyone knows that he was just throwing a tantrum and the whole veterans cover story BS was just him tying to make it seem like an honorable thing, but it wasn't. He used them to cover up his own cowardly actions. You can try and lie to yourself about what his motives were but even you know the truth of it.

His excuse that Fox news has been hostile to him isn't a valid reason. Fox news is hostile to everyone yet they don't run from them. Just look at the crap they talk about anyone and everyone they disagree with yet they don't whine about it like a child. He's a big f*cking baby and had his ego bruised and that was enough to make him run. How the hell would he ever be able to handle the real pressure of the Presidency??? He wouldn't and you know it.

Obama has taken sh*t for 8 years and it's turned him into a grey haired old man in that time but he at least faced the criticism and kept going. Trump got challenged by one journalist on one news station and folded. He talks a big game but he's got no real game.

You know it, I know it and everyone knows it even if some don't want to admit it.

You want to talk about facing reality? Well, numbers don't lie.

You assume an awful lot about people and pretend like it's fact. Well guess what, your opinion isn't a fact, it's just wishful thinking. If Trump got to where he is because of his "blunders" you can imagine how bad the other candidates must look.

Everyone who has been paying attention knows that the statements and attacks that have been coming out of Fox News over the past few weeks against Trump definitely shows some bias from the network. Then they just happen to choose a journalist with a serious chip on her shoulder for Trump as a moderator in the debate? They're not playing a fair game, so I don't blame Trump for giving Fox the middle finger and hosting his own event.

And Obama facing criticism? He avoids it like the plague. Funny how those grey hairs started popping up after people started questioning if he was too young for the job.

Also a lot of journalists from a lot of news stations have been challenging Trump... or have you been under a rock lately? None of them we're chosen to moderate a national debate he's participating in for obvious reasons, until now. No bias here folks.

The thing with Trump is actually ridiculous, I agree.

Just like the media saying "how is he going to make Mexico pay for the wall?" That will never happen, how will he build a wall and all we hear is one attack after the other on how stupid Trump is for saying that, yet, the bill to build the wall was passed by house and congress in 2006, so the law is there. It has been defunded two times or so I believe, they keep taking money away from the building of it because they don't have the balls to stand up to the left wing press and bleeding hearts to actually protect this nation.

but the whole thing is, Trump said EXACTLY where the funds for building the wall were going to come from, the information is there, he has a clear statement of how yet no one runs that story, because all these politicians and the media which backs them want civil unrest to keep hold of their reason to be in power, they want a voting block who votes for socialist policies and large government, instead of doing what is right for the American people.

so no media outlet covers the "how", they treat us like idiots who cannot read, who they can play like puppets on a string, and in general insult us at every turn.

Mexico must pay for the wall and, until they do, the United States will, among other things: impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages; increase fees on all temporary visas issued to Mexican CEOs and diplomats (and if necessary cancel them); increase fees on all border crossing cards – of which we issue about 1 million to Mexican nationals each year (a major source of visa overstays); increase fees on all NAFTA worker visas from Mexico (another major source of overstays); and increase fees at ports of entry to the United States from Mexico [Tariffs and foreign aid cuts are also options]. We will not be taken advantage of anymore.
www.donaldjtrump.com...

People need to go to the link and read it, and then prepare to be shocked when you realize how dumb the media thinks you are, and how little they care about doing, perhaps, what might be good for this nation rather than what is good for their pocket books.

Might be because Cruz looked terrible at least imo.

We won't know until people show up.

IF that snowstorm makes it to iowa 8 hours earlier it could drastically change the outcome as well.
