If it's charging you money to upgrade drivers then it is definitely malware. HP or any other company releases drivers for free. It might help if you specify which drivers it says needs upgraded. Also, check in programs to see if any updater etc. is there. Perhaps post some screenshots? Without more detail it's all speculation. You can try using this emergency spyware removal kit, although if mbam found nothing it most likely won't either.

I think it reminds you to update drivers, there are three ways you can to do this:
1. Use Microsoft Update. Enter the device Manager and then click the hardware, click the properties.
2. Try to find the drivers from the the HP official site or third site.
3. Try to use a drivers download software to help you scan your computer and it will recommend you the right drivers, you can try to download one from link removed.
