If you are too ignorant to understand that your freedom of speech is also MY freedom of speech, then you truly have lost what it means to be free.

You have no comprehension of basic UNIVERSAL freedoms.

And, you are selfish.

First they came for the racists and nobody gave a toss...

Then they came for the homophobes and nobody gave a toss...

Then they came for the paedos and nobody gave a toss...

Then everybody else lived happily ever after.

ah, the intolerance of tolerance

The freedom of speech is a beautiful but the freedom to be pi$$ed off is even greater.

However if you say something stupid you will get a stupid response. I'm guilty of that crime. The difference of saying something that is right and saying what you think is right is something Trump or Hilliary don't understand. Facts is facts and the first can't protect anyone that has faulty logic.

I would agree with Charlie that while I accept someone has the right to say what they want (that's the defending bit), I wouldn't be willing to actually stand in the way of the consequences of them saying things that I find abhorrent.

Then you are not defending them.

A person shouldn't face violence because they said things someone didn't like.

If someone has stupid ideas, reason with them.

You are missing the point. Free speech is a privilege, it doesn't mean I agree with what is said and whether you agree or not, it can come with consequences. You don't agree - fine, walk into a rowdy bar at 11pm and tell the biggest, nastiest looking guy in the room that his wife is a whore and you've just had sex with her and his very young daughter - free speech would allow you to say that but I sure as hell wouldn't go out of my way to defend you.

Speech is not a privilege it is an absolute right of all human beings.

I don't need your permission to speak my mind.

There is no excuse for the use of violence against someone for just talking.

Racism and homophobia are politically correct nowadays lol

That's precisely my point and it must have flown over your head.

Have you ever noticed that people like some individuals and dislike others? Strange thing isn't it? I mean...I'm sure there is no one you dislike...right? But I bet the ones you dislike DESERVE to be disliked...right? I bet they are bad people, not deserving of being liked...right? But somehow it is only YOU that gets to decide who is allowed to be disliked. Interesting. You are apparently right and someone else who does the same as you, is wrong because YOU didn't approve the people they don't like.

What a God among men!

You are right, it is politically correct to be racist as long as it is against anyone that is white and straight.

But hey, we all know that it is impossible for people of color to be racist right Chuck?

I'll defend my own rights, thanks.

I tend not to embark on any journey unless I'm sure I'll reach my destination on my own.

ETA - doesn't mean I'll actually complete my journey but I ain't going anywhere on the assumption that other's will lend a hand. - that'd be very presumptuous of me.

Good job embracing that whole bigbrother thing there mate!!

So in your book detaining and/or somehow punishing THOUGHT CRIMES is A-OK ???

I mean I'm perfectly ok with punishing CRIME, but that would go something like this:

"First they came for the people who assaulted other races....

Then they came for the ones who assaulted homosexuals...."

LOL, you're so PC that you're a fascist now eh ??? :-)
