They did something to the E model -64's. They supposedly are faster and out perform the D's.

It has the -701D engine. The older birds had the -701C. Still the T700 though. This will be a completely new engine, going up to 3,000 shp, from the current 2,000, more fuel efficiency, longer life cycle, etc.

The 60s new engine will also coincide with rebuilt or newly manufactures Highspeed shafts, gear boxes, and an entirely new rigging.

The Army doesn't have the maintenance manuals for how this is going to go down yet. But its supposed to keep the hawks flying into the 2030s.

The Apaches probably won't get the new engines.
