If we the citizens do not question our government this may as well give them the green light to do whatever they want without reprisal and unaccoutability. In a sense this is what is going in now. We Americans need to call the govt. on every issue no matter how large or small.

Unfortunately it's much easier for one to sit back and munch on snacks and bunk out in front of the TV all day.

As recent as 10 years ago, the general climate in Singapore was one of fear to openly question the government. Throughout the the preceding years, too many examples were made of persons doing so. Through the Legal system or through the local version of the Patriot Act (which incidentally is a British legacy to us).

It has only been during this decade that encouragement of free speech and ideas has been directly forthcoming from the government. So, to all you "crazies", cherish the constitution of free speech and be thankful that the worst that's happened so far is being labelled "crazy".

different cultures, different values, some would rather die an honorable death then be labaled as a crazy among your entire populace, it demeans in a more robust sense that it chips away at societies collective dignity and integrety. there is no doubt that our governent tries with all its might to discourage independant thought, they spoon feed facts and information, if we were to comply with their perspective on how to live we would still be gasping for awareness, and be ankle deep in the pool of knowlegde this world has to offer. truth be known, lets look at who now is on the opposing specrtum of the governments grand scheme of glorification. average american car owning, pop-cultist, football watching, TV addicted, beer drinking, uniform anti thought, confound dilapitaded, movie watching, corperate indulging, neo-conformist! the weak man depends on the glorification of others!!! weak!!!

I hear people were getting visits from the SS (Secret Service) right before the political conventions last fall. Mostly activists.
