I know enough to take offense at being labeled a professional in academia...heh... many of them are wonderful, and likely dwell behind many avatars here, but c'mon.. .the vast majority are insufferable dinks.

I'm sorry, Dudeman, I didn't mean any offense. I just picked up from your posts that you seem to be linked to academia, and didn't know the Plotinus story and it confused me as my first Humanities class demolished # that I didn't even know was in need of demolishing; Origen? Right? What a cluster#.

Some are dinks. I think I scared the bejeesus out of the ones that were patent dinks, but I've been at that since HS. Anyway, I returned to school at a very late age so I think my experience was different than that of many, and I still have a long road ahead, although it's very focused and the path is very clear.

No insult intended, just all WTF, as I said.

Here's what is interesting to me: That the stories that we tell about being farmed and devoured, in some sense, by "critters inhabiting human systems", yes, the Neoplatonic ones, really are most informed by the Russians, Gurdjieff and Blavatksky, and that the audience for that current of thought is an almost exclusively caucasian Europe and America.

It's okay. My boy was off school "poorly" yesterday and then I fell asleep with my book on the seatee. Exhaustion seems to be the standard for me lately, anyway, my intention wasn't to be cryptic, I just have very limited energy resources of late so haven't been able to get back on sooner.

Dammit...I come at this from a very different direction, you must be aware of that. I haven't read much in the way of Neoplatonism, or Gurdieff and Blavatsky at all. In terms of the audience being WASP-like, definately...but did the Russians inform? I would say that they continued to follow the same train of thought, developed it somewhat but based on the same misinformation.
