My opinion too.

Nutrinos break the 'fundamental (there's that word again!) speed barrier'..but to admit it, would be scientific heresy and cannot be allowed to take root...hence the faulty cable excuse.

No text books will be harmed..or be caused to be rewritten, in the production of this post...rather like the nutrino story itself ironically.

every neutrino beam experiment in the world attempted to do the same... and failed... sorry but the faulty cable is not an excuse... it is quite simply the truth

Off the top of my head : would there be any repercussions (I can't think of the right word) to breaking the speed of light within the earths atmosphere?

I have a feeling just like we keep finding things getting smaller and smaller and faster one day we will find out that our Sun is just a nucleus in something much bigger then we could ever imagine.
