How can you tell it is a RoCAF aircraft with a paint job Zaphod?

Is it just the make and model or is there something that only an aviation buff overlord like yourself might spot that gives it all away?

This is an RoCAF aircraft:

See just above the engine, you can see what appears to be a packed drag chute? Right under the base of the tail?

You can make out the same in the picture of the crashed aircraft:

This is a US F-16:

They aren't equipped with a drag chute, and have other equipment in that location, with a solid end cap.

Ah!

Configuration! I see. Yes, right there above the engine, just at the base of the tail, so to speak. Would that be there to shorten the necessary length of the landing strip?

That's exactly what it's used for. It's not specific to Taiwan, there are several foreign buyers that use them, but with it being a RoCAF pilot the odds were high that it would be a RoCAF aircraft.

A drag chute cuts short the landing roll for nations that use roads or other emergency strips.

The RoCAF thing... Makes me laugh... Taiwan having Chinese war gear. China calls Taiwan, Chinese Taipei.

How much crap is that. Most folk in Taiwan are proud of their uniquely Taiwanese history and culture, distinct from the Chinese way of life and culture, and yet, these days it's called Chinese Taipei because China bullied the crap out of them and basically annexed the place. What a world.

Native Americans know that feel.

Remains found and some info on what happend/what's next.

Strange that the F-16 was relieved by F-35, maybe for some of their ISR capabilities?
