I saw that on TV last night and I could not help ask my self why are they bringing that up again now?

Not only that, notice they gave about 50 seconds of the 60 second report to exactly as you describe but they gave the Russian view only about 10 seconds. Their bias was very very obvious I thought.

Was the whole story run just as a warm war attack on Russia?

I totally disagree here. There is no history of political opponents and activists being murdered by the State in the Western nations.

There is in Russia though, as this case and others demonstrates, and the deaths of political opponents and other political activists that oppose the Russian authorities. The difference here is that Litvinenko was a British national.
