Google searches about different conspiracy theories kept bringing me to ATS. I didn't put much thought into it though, simply seeing ATS as another
website. As in, I was more focused on the research topic than the source of the content.
Then, many times when I was researching non-conspiracy things, ATS threads would still come up. I don't believe much of anything I read at first, so I
like to find vastly different perspectives on the issue in order to get a better idea of what's going on. Needless to say, I still didn't pay much
attention to the site itself (lol sorry).
Then I temporarily quit my self imposed boycott of pop culture & the music biz, and started trying to catch up on a lot of stuff. The whole "Eye of
Horus/Illuminati!!!" crap was in full effect. Some of my coworkers at the time were astonished that I knew nothing about it all. I kept laughing at
the relative absurdity of it because I'd studied the real Illuminati & the European "Age of Enlightenment". So seeing "gangsta rappers" and pop
singers talking about it & the Freemasons was funny to me. It was like if country singers went through a Genghis Khan or Saladin fad. lol
Anyway, I became fascinated with how deep people were going with it, so I obsessed over the basics & the other secret societies of the time. I'd
researched real cults & secret societies a long time ago, but that was when I was trying to learn power so I could conquer the world. Now I wanted to
see it from the perspective of pop music, if that even makes sense.
Needless to say, ATS was one of the sites that kept coming up, especially when everyone started freaking out about the Mayan Apocalypse, 2012!!!, the
2012 Rapture, etc. I found myself coming back every few weeks, just to read different opinions at the time. I didn't expect to actually join the site
or even to remember any of the posters. I don't mean that in a bad way, just that I usually go on vastly different websites to see different human
perspectives on things (including hate sites, hoax sites, and yes, even "official narrative" and official government sites).
I realized I was addicted when the Ebola hysteria reached its peak during the 2014 election cycle. I'd been viewing a lot of the other threads (like
the epic Ferguson protest thread that had liveleaks & everything). But it was the Ebola threads & the subsequent disappearance of the hysteria a week
after the elections were over that made me actually think about joining. I kept wanting to rant about how everyone was being manipulated, no one cared
about Ebola when its other outbreaks were only killing Africans, etc.
There was even a good thread by our brother CharlieSpeirs (sp?) showing the different Muslim groups and communities that were actively opposing the
extremists. I didn't know it was Charlie at the time, since I literally didn't look at the usernames, but it was a thread I'd actually pointed friends
towards. Anyway, I eventually quit lurking & the rest is history. (sorry so long but I'm deliberately procrastinating b/c i have some boring work i
don't want to do)
