Sorry missed your reply until just now.
I agree that bigoted attacks are abhorrent, but they are everyday occurrences in # hole housing estates all over the UK white or black, disabled or gay.
There is no evidence that the landlord painted the doors to identify asylum seekers as opposed to just using the same paint for all the properties.

...and yeah, if I felt so scared that the colour of my door made me a target then I'd paint it myself, even on a fiver a day.
Such a bleeding heart aren't ya, not surprising from a Scot though, your whole nation sucks on the socialist teat lol

I agree (and have said in a post earlier) it is nonsense to suggest it was done deliberately. However that does not mean that it does not make them a target.

As I have said in numerous posts asylum seekers complaining about racism or violence does not in anyway stop or devalue anyone else complaining about racism or violence. People need to stop blaming the victims and start dealing with the culprits.

If being a bleeding heart means I think that we should do what we reasonably can to help people fleeing from violence and oppression then I will wear the badge with pride while riding my hobby horse to the top of the moral high ground. The air up here smells clean and the view is great.

The men who have bought their wives and children with them in perilous waters ARE the real refugees in my view. They are so desperate to protect their families from the hell they are escaping that it is worth the risk of drowning rather than leaving them to suffer in the hands of God knows what.

A lot of the single, fit, men are probably too young in the majority of cases to even have children. A lot are coming from relatively safe countries to get out of subscription and in my view are cowards. The way they push themselves to the front of the queue in front of the women and children also shows their characters. They are taking homes from the real refugees and it is because of them why a lot of countries are refusing to take any more so the real losers are the genuine refugees. Does that not bother you seeing as you sound like a compassionate person?a reply to: ScepticScot

It would bother me if I thought it was true but I think it is generally b******s. Let say they do stay and fight (despite no weapons/training/leadersip/organisation). Which side do you want them to fight on? ISIS or Assads?

Nope, I consider your good self to be a bleeding heart for whining after my suggestion of paint the #ing door themselves, £3 total for sandpaper, paint and a brush from Poundland.

Oh and as for permission to paint the door from the landlord, don't be ridiculous again, there's not a civil court judge in the UK who would evict for a painted door. You know it, and asylum seekers with free legal aid know it as well.

But where do ISIS and Assad come into it? These men living in the houses with red doors arent Syrian. They are not coming from Iraq. In fact out of all the refugees/migrants/illegal immifrants/economic migrants only 1 in 5 are from Syria. So why are you trying to justify your stance by claiming anyone who seeks asylum/refuge in this Country is from Syria. Its simply not true. Thats why presently the Government are trying to narrow down the meaning of asylum and the Countries because far too many are abusing the system. Why are so many reluctant to give fingerprints etc if they have nothing to hide?a reply to: ScepticScot

The refusal to register in France is quite simple to explain, if those men camped at Calais manage to get into the UK illegally they will be sent back to the first safe nation they registered at. If they haven't registered previously in a safe nation then they have a chance of being allowed to stay in the UK.
They are not stupid.

Really?

Then what does this mean...
"migrants moving here, not contributing a bean and being given housing as a priority, not that the people who are throwing eggs at the houses are racist thugs"???

All of this makes me laugh...

Go back a decade or two and Europe talked about how young and uncivilized America was compared to Europe with their socialism standards and great immigration ideals. While us uncouth Americans wanted to build a wall and remove these poor illegals, Europe did it the right way being the civilized standard of the world, and in a few hundred more years we might evolve up to their levels...lol how things change so quickly....

What whining? All the whining I see seems to be coming from the people on here who find fault with asylum seekers complaining about being racially abused.
Frankly I want more people living here who are willing to complain about racism than those who accept racism and intimidation. Much more my kind of people than those who accept it as just part of life and then whine about others wanting better. I know who I think the real cowards are.
Nice shot about legal aid. I am really sure people fleeing war zones with oppressive dictatorships are really up to speed with the rules of what they can and can't do to the properties. I mean why would they possibly be scared about breaking any rules?
Still I am sure posters on ATS are much better qualified to make judgements about if they are genuine asylum seekers than the professionals actually dealing with the cases.
Asylum seekers are people fleeing war or oppression. They are not here to steal your jobs/houses or women folk. People on here need to grow up and learn the difference between migration and asylum. However some minds are clearly too small to understand.

Because posters are going on about wanting them to go back and fight. Tell me then who is it you want them to fight and with whom?

Nope, asylum seekers are people who have presented themselves to the government as those who are fleeing violence or oppression, and are awaiting a decision on their claimed case.
Until they are granted refugee status for all you or anyone else knows they could just be economic migrants.
Perhaps learn what the official statuses actually mean before whining?

*edit*
Many thousands of asylum seekers are deported from the UK every year when their cases have been heard and they have been found to have been lying bastards.

And many thousands are accepted but you seem to know better about which ones are genuine than the professionals reviewing the actual cases.
Also failed asylum does not mean they are lying, it means that they did not meet the UK's very tough criteria for being accepted.
Again all the whining I see is against the asylum seekers. Maybe some people just like to have someone to blame for the crappyness of their one lives and it is easier the fixate on asylum seekers than deal with the real problems in this country.

Nope again, I've made no claims that those folk are not genuine asylum seekers just reminding you that until their cases are processed neither you or anyone else knows.

Also, no whining from me either, my life is not crappy and it is certainly not affected by a hundred or so asylum seekers in a northern town with red painted doors.

*edit*
And I say it again, £3 will pay for sandpaper, a brush and paint from Poundland, so if I was this terrified person scared that my door colour was singling me out for attack then I'd paint it myself, even living on asylum seeker benefits.
I guess I don't just cry in the corner expecting the world to fix everything for me as I suspect you do good sir.

But from previous posts you have made a it pretty cleat how you feel about asylum seekers in general. So do you think they are genuine and just don't care what happens to them?

Never said i thought your life was crappy, still with your borderline obsession with Poundland products I could understand how some people could reach that conclusion.

Nope, again all of that is your imagination alone, go on directly quote any derogatory comments from me regarding people just because they are claiming asylum...you will be unable to because I haven't.

As far as 'obsession' with Poundland products goes, again more invention. I suggested they could paint the doors themselves, you whined the couldn't afford it, and I provided a £3 solution from a national dirt cheap store.

Your debating skills are crap fella, just lame invention and twisting of my words as usual.

I don't think there is anyone blaming asylum seekers in this thread (though many are not seeking asylum, they are economic migrants) and yet again more assumptions from you about people you know nothing about..funny that, as I mentioned before it is those who shout racist, bigot etc are the ultimate bigots themselves!

And I have said repeatedly throughout this thread, that the migrants are experiencing what thousands of others do in this country, blighted by high unemployment, poverty etc and rather than everyone getting up in arms about a perceived attack on migrants because of the colour of their doors, which is utter nonsense, we should be looking to address the serious issue that many communities face from anti-social behaviour, unemployment and poverty

You are the one who started with the insults Grain as anyone reading the thread knows and the only whining comes from you. You seem in an argumentative mood this weekend, what's wrong did you miss the Poundland sale?

Yes I really shouldn't have started a victim blaming thread about people who are the victims of racial abuse. Oh wait I didn't, that was you.

They have every right not to be targeted for racist abuse, threats or violence. Just the exact same as you or anyone else does. As I have said multiple times (almost as many as Grain has mentioned Poundland) the idea that they doors were painted to allow them to be targeted is absurd, however that doesn't mean that they weren't targeted.

I am glad you agree that we need to deal with anti-social behaviour, unemployment and poverty, None of these things are caused by asylum seekers.
