Is sex wrong?

Which aspects of human sexuality are wrong according to your religion? Example: Masturbation.

In Christianity it is believed that the Adam and Eve's procreation was a sin and this original sin was passed on to the future generations. If this is true, then why did God create the mechanism whereby procreation could happen?

According to some Christian doctrine (I'm Catholic but I'm liberal on sex), these are just some of the things we are not supposed to do.

Masturbate (Come on its natutal)
Anal Sex (considered sodomy)
Oral Sex (same as above)
Pre-marital sex
Sex with a member of your own gender

There maybe more, but I think its all bullcrap. I believe no one can tell two consenting adults how they can or cannot have sex.

What we on about ? If it's there, it's attached to you, and roughing it up gives you great pleasure and does not harm anyone else, what the hell ? Use it, I say use it !!!

I share your same sexual liberalism, especially on masturbation. 95% of men masturbate, and so do I. What's wrong in giving yourself personal gratification? You are harming no one.

In christianity, original sin is disobedience to god, not sex. The judeo-christian attitudes torwards sex apparently spring from the idea that wasting sperm is a bad thing. So effectively sex for pleasure is a bad thing. There is quite a bit of a real perception in that Monty Python Song 'Every Sperm is Sacred'.

So then if I want to have sex with my sister it is okay because it doesn't hurt anyone? I'm mean if we are 2 consenting adults and use protection what is it gonna hurt? I'm mean we both love each other!



I was being sarcastic here! Sodomy is unhealthy, incest leads to birth defects, oral sex spreads herpes from type I to type II, especially in medieval times, roman era times, long time ago when people bathed once or twice in their entire lifetime.

Civilization needs some sort of boundaries. 18 years of age could get lowered to 16 yrs of age, then lower consentual sex to 14 yrs of age, then 12 yrs of age, then 10 yrs of age. Once the public become desensitized to a certain sexaul practice things change for the worse. Eventual pedophillia will become an accepted practice. "I'm mean come on now mr. police officer that 6 year old consented to it so how dare you prevent our love!" said the pervert in the future. "Your just an evil hater, racist , biggot you objector" said the pervert.
10 years ago no one would of even of had this discussion. 50 yrs from now a court case will be fought proving animals can show love, then few yrs later people will be married to their dogs. Sounds crazy but if you told someone in the 1800's that men could marry men they would slapped you for being retarded but now it is happening all over the world.

Yes sex is right because we need humans to survive so we have sex and make babies. If we diddn't make babies then we would become extinct. Everything around sex is just to help you get in the mood.

Hmmm, all that has really changed is tolerance within the community, and the influence of the church within the population, and the Government (well, some Governments anyway ).

Homosexuality has been practiced for centuries. I'm thinking roman empire here, which laid (so to speak) the foundations for the Roman Catholic church. Anal sex has been used by many cultures to protect the virginity of women (hence the term "Greek" for anal sex). Once again, a common practice in some cultures. There isn't a lot of historical discussion of oral sex, but once again I'd see it as an extension of the protecting the virginity thing. As for Masturbation, hell, if I didn't have masturbation I wouldn't know what to do with myself!

I don't mind people being ignorant of my religion, but it does bug the crap out of me when they say erroneous crap in such a matter of fact manner.

The old testament tells that as long as Adam & Eve obeyed and stayed at a servitude level, all things would be provided for them. there was certain knowledge they were not to try and obtain. Those forbidden forms of knowledge are symbolized in the story as as two trees, the tree of knowledge and the tree of life. The "Tree of Knowledge" ever notice how throughout the bible the word "knowing" is used for sexual activity; and Adam "knew" his wife Eve and begat....man was not originally meant to procreate (I can hear you saying, "oh no the bible says"....I KNOW what the current version of the bible says)! The "Tree Of Life" represents the spiritual side. Human kind was also not meant to achieve the spirituality of his creator, the immortality of reincarnation of the spirit:

"And the lord said, Look, the man has become as one of us, knowing good from evil: and now, what if he put forth his hand, and takes also from the Tree Of Life, and eats, and lives forever?" Genesis 3:22

Well, I certainly wouldn't go that far. I think sex is an important part of life and health, but it's not the end all and not be just thrown around.....there are links between two people who have relations that are there for a time after that can effect both of you, though you don't see it....having multiple partners where there is no "real" feelings" for the person involved is not the smartest thing for one to do...not only for health reasons, but spiritual, and your astral self too

sex isn't wrong in my religion, we have the damn kama sutra for god's sakes, but openly discussing it, flaunting it, etc, is frowned upon by most hindus.

I think my religion like all others, used sex fear to control the people.

Nothings wrong with sex and sex was not the original sin, as many others pointed out. The Bible is a bit uptight about it in places, mainly the OT, but even it agrees that between husband and wife its OK.

WW, could you elaborate on that please? I was under the impression that religious fear (or the fear of God, or entity) in itself was and still is used to "control" the people.

sorry hun, your'e right, it's early, what I meant to say, they used sex as a tool for the god arguement. so basically fear of god punishment for being sexually promiscious.

Two separate things.

First the Act itself : Self pleasure, straight, oral, foreplay, anal etc

Second, with someone else and who or what gender is that someone else ?

Seems to me the religious boundaries emphasise on the second aspect.

But it also appears that the boundaries are set up for practical reasons. Incest : risk of mongoloid and deformed children
Adultery with another person's spouse : avoidance of death by shotgun
Gay relationships : Well, it goes up the wrong end of what was intended to be a one way street.
Lesbian relationships : sooner or later penetration needs to take place. Why use something artificial when man has something made for this ?

Anyway, to each his/her own. As long as no harm is done or caused !!
