All bank loans are insured against loss. The bank doesn't lose a thing. Regardless of credit scores and the ability to repay.

Trust me I know all about it. I guess it is my narrow lens as I can only see what is going on inside the trade I am involved with. It still applies to alot of other things though I see the bigger problems with the system and institution by literally watching the bastardization of the trades and skilled workers of our country keep getting beaten down and screwed. Again though just traveling around looking for the work COSTS ALOT OF ****ING MONEY with no guarantee of the job when you get there. Hotel rooms, fuel, weld tests, consumables, machine maintenance, truck maintenance, it is not the best for everyone and like all things like this, it has its ups and downs. It seems like the gov is doing a good job putting oil and gas welders out of work lately anyways...

Perception is important.

Which kinda brings me back to the whole Bernie thing. The perception that his opponents are trying to paint is that he's a do nothing socialist with pie in the sky policies that will never work.

But they spend more time showing Hillary talking about that, then Bernie actually explaining how he wants to do things.

And I never thought I'd say this seriously but that damn Liberal Media is sorta to blame for that.

~Tenth

Bernie is trying OLD European tricks, literally on a Marx/Engels' model....pointing to CAPITALIST Europe...and saying "Voila folks here we have the proof".

I'm sorry but Bernie is NOT profound, not nuanced at all. In fact his ideas are regurgitated old hat, that have the potential to destroy us MORE....especially given that none of it would fly with a very Republican controlled Congress.

Bernie or Hillary would be a nightmare just on the numbers alone. Forget policy

My point was that former PURE socialist citizens of socialist nations, in GENERAL, would never go back to that system.

My friend was in the military (as were ALL Cuban Youths when he was growing up). He is in his 50s now.
He was in charge of taking care of the yachts and fishing boats for the General and other Officers.

He and a buddy made tentative plans. The day arrived when they were to inspect and test-drive a boat scheduled for Officer Leisure use. They inspected it, piloted it out of the harbor - and never went back.

The Coast Guard intercepted them - and they said "We defect!" and were brought in.

He and I talked (in Spanish) at length about it. He speaks English, but with a heavy Cuban accent.

So - do you speak Spanish? Would you be able to understand his Spanish?
Can you tell the difference between Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Nicaraguan, Salvadoran, and Guatemalan Spanish?
How about "Spain" Spanish?

bah. Nevermind. You're going to ignore me; that's fine.

The U.S Needs MASSIVE de-rugulation in many sectors, massive tax cuts, massive job growth, massive Immigration overhaul, BASELINE auditing of Federal Agencies, and to maintain a HIGHER interest rate in the middle somewhere.

We cannot do a Socialist approach now. We need a Free Market Nuclear BOMB or else we're screwed for decades more

Refinery welders made more on the 70's than today!!!!]/b]

Why did wages drop you ask?

Because they broke our unions!

Early 70's $25 the 90's (20yrs later) $19.50 and no more double or triple overtime, just time and a half.

Still good pay if you work 90 or 100 hrs a week, just a lot less than before the unions were broke.

Same with finish carpenter. If there were unions at least the illegal immigrants would have to be trained and most likely made legal. I capped out at 25 after a decade of experience and only because I was a subcontractor with thousands of dollars of my own tools. Now I just make guitars, at least if I am going to make crap wages I will enjoy what I am doing. .

Illegal immigration has destroyed the trades as well. It's not the immigrants fault it s the employers who pray off of them. The results are quality has suffered and prefabbed everything that just snaps together.

Especially since Americans didn't come up with the idea. Things that work great in other countries are crap because we didn't think/invent them -- or figure out a way to "Americanize" them and improve them.

National healthcare? We didn't invent that, and if it's better we sure as hell aren't going to admit it. Nope. We'd rather just invent new and creative ways to convince ourselves that the rest of the 1st world is somehow moronic for doing it.

But it's ok for the Rich to rob from the poor and the fed?

There is no theft if your part of a democracy and the majority of the people vote for raised taxes.
I for one will always give more to help EVEN THE LAZIEST AMONG US. Doing that makes me a lot more happy in my life than knowing that I voted to turn away from the least among us. Democracy is great when it works for you. I think in this case democracy is going to work for those of us who don't mind giving up a little so that everyone can have more.

There are a lot of little details that could reduce that number dramatically or it could even increase a little. My question is what are the other candidates plans?

Gary Johnson on Budget & Economy

Crickets are better than locusts.

I didn't see one healthcare plan in that article. Let alone one better than Bernie's. I honestly respect your posts because you seem to be informed or well researched usually when posting. But, I honestly have no idea why you replied to my post with that article.

All I took away from it was he would slash all social safety nets by 43%. Just seems very harsh towards our poor and elderly. I'm unsure if that would balance the budget or not. To be honest I'm not an economist. There definitely wasn't a better healthcare plan in that article, which seems to prove my point I was trying to make.

Everyone wants to take a crap on Bernie's plans, with a whole lot of bias and not considering other factors which reduce the costs. What everyone against Bernie's plan isn't doing is supplying another idea on how to fix the current situation.

If I missed your point, please enlighten me.

The policies fail because certain econo-fascist elements in government refuse to allow anything to pass which might make the poor slightly more equal when compared with the rich. They always dirty up the proposal so that it barely functions, and then blame the issuer of the original, perfectly functional idea. Its a great ploy, and it worked on you, right? It's still a crappy play, and it still puts your nation behind where it should be in front.

The U.S is corrupt from the ground up. We have no current auditing. Socialist policies, or anything remotely 'ground up' NEEDS a BASELINE audit before any accurate projections can be made.

Otherwise you get Obamacare....which might well DEFAULT in the near future.

The bottom doesn't need growth additionally. The "Middle Class" does, so they can employ the lower class.

And our Illegal Immigrants MUST get out now, post haste, so that OUR lower class citizens can have a shot.

Most people I know wouldn't care for pizza in Italy, or tacos in Mexico. We change everything around in order to make it our own. . .

We're the country that's supposed to be number one -- the best, so if a great idea didn't come from us, we ignore it and pretend it's crap...

American exceptionalism is going to become more and more of a hindrance as the rest of the world is able to move forward, leaving the USA behind in the dust.

Portuguese is not Spanish. (I had a colleague from Brazil, too - yes, Portuguese and Italian and Spanish are all similar.)

You were saying?

Just that if you are not fluent in Spanish and its many dialects, you ought not be talking about asking "pure Cubans" (or Mexicans, or Central Americans) about things that are beyond your ability to comprehend in their language, and beyond your knowledge of the cultures from which they came.

Oh - and also -
my friend's wife is a 3rd generation Mexican-American. She doesn't speak Spanish.

Welders made that kind of money in the refineries, where welders did coded welding that was X-rayed or dye pen tested. Refinery and atomic pipe welders were the elite of the welders. The shipyards no union and about $15 to wage in the 70's to today! Some shipyard did pay better, new construction, not sure about the East Coat ship builders pay rates.

When the broke the unions all trade wages in the refinery dropped and to get top wages you needed to have two skill sets, welder / pipe fitters.

Then they brought the Louisiana scaffold builders to Wa. state for $8 hr and wages dropped again for anyone that was not master craft in the refineries.

Damned socialized unions, putting extra money in my wallet, damn them unions!!!

The Italian interns who come to the US to work in hospitality 'foreign-exchange' programs (Hotel Management) and the Mexicans immigrants and the Cuban immigrants that I know all think "American" versions of their food are dismally disappointing and totally 'fake'.

Anyway - I'm drifting off-topic....

suffice to say, the Spanish-language immigrants to this country are fans of Sanders.
