Whether you're a socialist who loves the way the VA is run or an actual vet who has seen deplorable conditions, the fact is, if Sanders had his way, if Hillary had her way or any socialist for that matter, the US hospital system would look like the VA.

Medicare is a payer system, they negotiate rates and cut checks, the VA is fundamentally different.

It's time to grow up and realize that health care is something actual people go to school for many years in order to learn how to provide to others, that in order to consider it YOUR right to have, you have to marginalize that fact and consider the sacrifices and labor of those who provide it to you inconsequential.

You have to consider them your slaves, at your beck and call to give you what your want when you want it.

It's time for you to grow up and realize that somethings are more important than money or profit.

Thankfully the corrupted geezer whiteys and their corrupted offspring are gonna become a minority.

So, you're 'r' selected?

No that makes no sense. Nobody said they had to be slaves to everyone who needs their services. I'd expect it to work in a way similar to other socialized organizations. If my home catches on fire I call the Fire Dept. for help but I don't pay them directly or have to figure out whether or not I can afford to save my home or not by checking my wallet first.

Seems that healthcare could work in a similar way. Firemen don't work for free so why would a doctor???

No it's not. It's a backlog of receiving disability benefits (payments) from the US Military.

Yeah - my husband is a veteran. He reenlisted in 2005 for three more years. Got the first "half" of the stipend ($7000), but never got the other half, or his second honorable discharge.

Yet you enjoy that big evil Capitalism...with your coffee and paper...no doubt privately owned, manufactured and distributed....

Unless you guys get rations of coffee....? Are you to that point yet?

But how can that be ?!

According to many of you Americans, there's no such thing as being able to combine capitalism and socialism to find a happy medium.

Hell no... there can only be 100% capitalism or 100% communism/socialism.

You either live in the USA (where freedom reigns supreme)... or you live in a non-american evil socialistic communist politically-correct libtard hell hole.

Amirite ?

And yes, I'm thoroughly enjoying my coffee and paper whilst watching the silly circus acts in these types of threads.

Thanks.

Oh but you Socialists are so HAPPY to espouse the benefits you enjoy, yet conveniently forget to mention those "evil" Capitalist niceties like your coffee, your paper, the emoticon you posted, this website you're typing on, the internet, your socks, your pants, your....well just about everthing.

But sure, I'll give you healthcare...why not? It's the least Capitalism can PAY FOR...as it does

You do realize that the first priority of a fire fighter is to prevent a fire from spreading, not to save the structure that the fire is consuming, right? Most times the property is a lost cause and must be torn down and something new constructed.

Also, we do not have a 'right to fire fighters' any more than we have a 'right to healthcare'.

The fire fighters are part of a local civil privilege offered in urban communities in exchange for taxes paid. There are many communities that do not have firefighters.

Physicians can be independent workers who specialize or generalize, and offer specialized skills in exchange for compensation. They develop strong working relationships with small numbers of people.

But hey, let's talk about the utopia of government health care. I had the 'joy' of working in a 'socialized' military hospital where the family members of military personnel were seen by a general doctor pool. It was like a cattle shoot. Random people came in to see random doctor who gave them a knee-jerk diagnosis and sent them down to the pharmacy I worked in to wait for several hours while we scrambled to fill the generics flooding into the antiquated computer system. I also had the 'joy' of lying to WW2 vets that we did not have certain newer medications available, knowing full well that there were medications avaialable. The medicine was *rationed* and only available if the veterans went to see approved medical specialists at the VA instead of a personal physician. And the waits for VA were just as bad in the 90s as they are these days. Maybe worse. Meanwhile I was filling Ritalin hand over fist for army moms who didn't know how to raise their teenage kids and wouldn't take the time to understand their kids were just hyper, and convince the random doctor that they needed the medication because ADHD was the latest craze.

That's a whole lot of nopes, again.

And as long as you're doing the usual and very Canadian jabs at 'Murika" from somewhere up north on some treasure map...may I refer to South Park as a stereotype of the very MUPPET like accuracy they portray...as truth?

While we're being insulting and smug that is??

What the hell are you talking about?

I went to school for many years in order to learn how to provide health services to others......and did so.
Before that, I worked in the Public School Special Ed system......
no one was turned away.

Community Clinics, you know. Public schools.....

We got paid, at about the same rate as secretaries or nurses. Non-profit organizations. So - yeah -

what the hell are you talking about?
We weren't slaves. We cared about the people we worked with every day (our clients, that is) - we didn't do it for the money. We did it because it was the right thing to do.

Like was said above there are things more important than money. In some people's worlds, anyway.

Whatever. I don't think that has anything to do with it. The point is that we don't pay a firefighter personally when we call them for whatever it is they're called for. They are also called for the service of their paramedics, called to accidents and all kinds of things. But they are a socialized organization which is the point of what I'm saying. They don't work for free because of it. They aren't anyone's slaves. They train for years and are specialized and do a job that takes invested time just like a doctor. So for someone to say you can't have socialized medical doesn't make sense because we have other socialized organizations which employ people and they work just fine. So why not healthcare???

Then don't be smug and insulting and you won't get the same in return.

Snide comments begets snide responses.

You've been in this thread half the day tossing around snide remarks to everyone without a second thought. Argue the topic, not the poster.

You're intelligent enough to know how the world works.

Actually my comment to you was humor. You didn't get the sarcasm. But now that you've started I'LL KEEP GOING.

Hey, if a World War breaks out, let us now when your mechanized super-sonic flying MOUNTIES are ready for action.

Don't call us, we'll call you....

Just kidding, we'll never need you...for pretty much...anything.

Trained for years? Try months. Paramedics stabilize an injured person so a specialized doctor can treat and heal them later.

Why not healthcare? Because while you have a right to take steps to keep yourself healthy, you do not have a right to demand a physician be your life coach.
