If anyone is interested in how the US government would run healthcare, just look at any VA hospital.

6 month waiting lines, slow, poor service, basically putting you off until you die so they don't have to spend the money to treat you.

No thanks.

Absurd. A vet can walk in to any VA and receive the treatment they need.

Patently false according to even OBAMAS own data

Provide a source please.

That is not to say there aren't many problems with the VA, but that is due to under-funding. Congress would rather spend money to make new vets than to take care of those we already have.

Well, you said it on the internet so it must be true.

Folks, forget all the stories on the news throughout the years about poor service, poor conditions, and the testimony from ACTUAL VETERANS.

Some socialist on the internet said it's okay now.

Your country, and your countrymen would not know socialism if it jumped up and kicked them in the throat.

Even your political left is right wing when compared to genuine socialist ideals and policy. If "The Bern" were a socialist, he would be insisting that healthcare be free

You lost me there. Health care is not free.

at the point of issue, and paid for via taxation,

Ah, at least it's 'paid' for. But who sets the price?

like a sensible nation might do.

And now you are totally gone. Socialism != Sensible.

You haven't any socialism now, you never have had.

You can keep it. We'll send you our socialists so they can learn. We'll pay for the one-way tickets.

I'm on a phone, I don't know how to link fr ok my it.

You asserted that a military member can walk into a VA hospital and get f he care they need. That is patently false to this day given the entire "VA backlog and care" situation is still ongoing.

I didn't say there weren't problems. I was refuting the 6 month waiting line comment.

There are a lot of little details that could reduce that number dramatically or it could even increase a little. My question is what are the other candidates plans?

I'm a big fan of "tax people less and trust them to spend their money the way they want to."

Is he starting a national health service? An entirely state run hospital system, removing corporate interest from hospitals and installing civil service members in their place, is he intent on employing doctors and nurses on the national pay roll, rather than allowing private organisations to run such places? No? Didn't think so.

Oh! Oh! Don't forget 'creating a bureaucracy in a single agency larger than your military forces' and 'zip code care (see: public education)' with a dash of 'Liverpool Care (Death Panel) Pathway' to get rid of those pesky elderly folks and newborns that want to live a little longer.

I'm going to give that a bunch of 'nopes'

I've read through this entire thread and the only solid conclusion that can be made is that the majority have absolutely no clue what socialism is.

It's like a bad record that keeps repeating itself. "Socialism is bad". "Obama is a socialist".

I think Brit hit the nail on the head when he said you wouldn't know socialism if it jumped up and bit you in the ass. Everything most of you know about socialism you learned from Right-Wing propaganda. In that case, everything that is not within their agenda is considered socialist.

And your posts are all, "capitalism is bad", Right wing is bad" and is base don left wing propaganda. Your point?

If that were the case, then there would have been no scandal at the VA over long waiting lists where vets were kept on them until they died in more than one VA across the country.

I've never said capitalism is bad in and of itself. I have said it has it's downfalls, as any system will inherently have. This is the second time in this thread someone had to lie about my comments.

My point being that what most people on the RIght think they know about socialism they learned from propagandists.

Terrible things happen. Is it the norm? Can you provide proof of it being a widespread problem beyond the few isolated incidents?

Oh hell, that's nothing.

You should see what we evil socialist Canadians do to our elderly when we want to cut costs in our national healthcare...

We send them all onto the big icebergs in Saskatchewan and watch them slowly drown in the icy waters.

That is, of course, only if the polar bears don't get them first.

It's a big annual festival up here.

Yet you enjoy that big evil Capitalism...with your coffee and paper...no doubt privately owned, manufactured and distributed....

Unless you guys get rations of coffee....? Are you to that point yet?

Completely off topic, but this has given me a good laugh in a not-so-easy patch of waters currently.

That's funny.

And those claims are about treatment of mental and physical injuries, what isn't or is covered, surgery, treatment, etc.

That's the whole issue of the backlog
