15 Hours Ago The Associated Press
PARIS (AP) — French President Francois Hollande pledged Monday to redefine France's business model and declared what he called "a state of economic and social emergency," unveiling a 2-billion-euro ($2.2 billion) plan to revive hiring and catch up with a fast-moving world economy.
The measures he proposed, however, are relatively modest, and he said they would not "put into question" the 35-hour workweek. With his country under a state of emergency since extremist attacks in November, Hollande did not seek to assume any new emergency powers over the economy.
In an annual speech to business leaders, Hollande laid out plans for training half a million jobless workers, greater use of apprenticeships, and aid for companies that hire young workers.
Hollande's Socialist government has struggled to boost long-stagnant French growth or reduce chronic unemployment, which has been around 10 percent for years. His chances of winning a potential second term may hinge on whether jobs pick up before next year's presidential vote.

Glad to see yet another big government failure with all the same old excuses.

Great the idea of new apprenticeships and ooh la la investment etc but if you don't have the industry and commerce to employ people after they have done their apprenticeships and qualified where do they go and importantly what do they do?
Regarding the unemployed immigrants that have penetrated European society and are used to getting what they want through violence and not working except to sign on for benefits and build their criminal network etc - you have to face the fact they are unwanted and a security risk so need to be deported. The only way to do anything with them is to invest in putting in opportunities in the countries they come from. People are turning already against mass immigration because of the security risk to their lives and most are saying enough is enough. The only choice is repatriation but with hope for employment and betterment there. or simply copy the American model of mass prisons.

Good point. World war will solve a lot of problems. For starters we can kill millions of poor people, their the only who fight anyway.

Unless they realize the need for a total economic restructuring we will continue to suffer.

Every single job should be a paid apprenticeship let the companies pay for their employees education like they should be.
They reap the financial reward why shouldn't they be responsible?
