a reply to: AugustusMasonicusI know Solomon is said to have had 72 demons under his control.
And that it drove him insane.

Masonry is not about contacting the spirit world. You can equate it to a charitable self-improvement group.

That really has nothing to do with Masonry. Solomon's appearance in Masonry is more allegorical and metaphorical than historical.

Being that I do not believe in demons I would tend to agree.

My friend, I don't know how you intended it, but that phrase does not belong to Freemasonry.

"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Love is the law, love under will."
(Thelema, "Book of the Law", Aliester Crowley)

"An it harm none, do what ye will."
("Wiccan Rede", Doreen Valiente)

Well, actually he joined an irregular Lodge in France then is said, by him, to have received the 33rd degree in Mexico, also in an irregular body. He was a Mason in the sense he called himself one, but was not recognized by mainstream Lodges. And no, the OTO is not Masonic.

Well my Brother,... that was fun while it lasted :p

I appreciate your apology, all is forgiven. However, you sure have a lot of hatred and ill-will directed toward an organization that you, admittedly, don't know much about. If you haven't fact-checked or researched source-materials, it is a dangerous game to make opinionated stances based upon rumor, speculation, and "I heard such-and-such". For the sake of the integrity of your opinions, I would highly advice that you research and investigate original sources before holding outside theories as truth.

Thank you network dude, AugustusMasonicus, and KSigMason for the information!

The Fallacy of the Golden Age

The esoteric tradition I originally sprung from had the same
problem. There is this veneration of a "succession of masters"
who in fact are just a conflation of prior individuals and
traditions which are similar, because it's the one and the
same human mind which generates all the same kind of
stuff..and the cultural and natural influences are much
the same the world around.

This is what gives the illusion of the "single source".
I know it's not "exciting", but then again, it's the human
imagination which makes things "exciting", while
reality can be rather dull sometimes.

I'm not saying anything negative about the traditions
in question... just discussing this well-known
psychological effect.

The is a quote about the fallacy of the golden age, how do you see to this? I believe any age has its perks, when any age prolongs it becomes a parasite on anything new..

What do you think?

You didn't reply to me.. but i think you are correct.

For example the "New Age" has fed at the trough of
eastern mysticism and western hermeticism.

It hasn't actually created anything new.. but just
prolongs the death of traditions which had some
promise and served some function..

But a new synthesis of "science and creative thought"
is long overdue.

I believe demons are possibly real. One of my cousins died in the hospital for a few minutes and was revived. He recollects his spirit rising out of his body, seeing his deceased body laying on the table and seeing different brands of demons lurking in every corner of the hospital.
Now whether they help you one bit in your daily life is another story.
I can't say at all that they do.
