The landmark 2010 Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. FEC was seen favorably by the GOP’s base when it happened, but as the race for the Republican presidential nomination heats up, the superPAC donors who once benefited from the potentially unlimited amounts of cash raised by independent groups have become skeptical.

According to The Hill, Republican frontrunner Donald Trump is running a relatively cheap campaign, leaving those who donated millions to campaigns for Jeb Bush, John Kasich, Scott Walker, and Rick Perry confused and angry.

Certainly, this election cycle has changed the way voters and politicians look at campaign donations and spending. Trump is mostly funding his own campaign, and has disavowed nine superPACs while calling on his Republican challengers to do the same. On the Democratic side, Bernie Sanders is refusing corporate funding, and has only accepted donations from private individuals. Sanders broke records last month when it was reported that he has received contributions from two million individual donors. The majority of Sanders’s contributions have been under $30.

Good! I hope they grow broke real quick, but you know a big part of the problem is media outlets that rake in all that..$$$$ for AD space so they are generally silent on the issue unless Da Burn Or Da Donald bought it up , we need to get that constitutions amendment going to kill off Citizens United .

This is a good sign. I can't wait til the day comes where merely accepting a super-PAC means your campaign is doomed.

Citizens United v. FEC was a poor decision to begin with. Good that is not working as the rich intended.

It brings joy when a few very rich special interests get smacked without anything to show for their efforts.
People are wanting ideas for the future, the mudpit tactics are tired, The only thing it has accomplished is to make everyone simply cynical about politics overall given everyone slams everyone else on trivial BS.

So good..keep milking these small corrupt men with large wallets until they destroy their legacy for no reason.

If Trump is not controlled opposition then by the election he will have either:

A) Been "found" with child porn

B) Died in a Jet/Car "accident"

C) Died of a "heart Attack"

D) Committed "suicide"

Same thing with sanders.

The people can force change when we join together to reject the status quo.

As far as the media is concerned, they should be supplying limited and free ad space to all candidates. Electing government officials is the basic foundation for selecting who will represent American citizens and businesses. It should be the media's responsibility to supply equal and limited free Ad space to all candidates. It should be their civic duty to make sure all candidates have equal media time to present their views to the American public.

Thomas Jefferson was absolutely correct when he said an enlightened citizenry is indispensable for the proper functioning of a republic.

If Republicans (and I suppose Hillary too) should have figured this out after the debacle of Romney 2012:

Campaign Sources: The Romney Campaign was a Consultant Con Job

They say that the truth is the consultants essentially used the Romney campaign as a money making scheme, forcing employees to spin false data as truth in order to paint a rosy picture of a successful campaign as a form of job security.

Zac Moffatt, Digital Director for the Romney campaign, was specifically named as having “built a nest egg for himself and co-founder of Targeted Victory, Mike Beach,” and that they “didn’t get social” media and ignored objections from other consultants and staffers in the campaign.

Of course, these are the same folk who thought it was a good idea to support a vulture capitalist to begin with, so maybe I'm expecting too much.

Same thing with sanders.

And if any of that happened, no one would believe the OS.
The world could finally rise up in revolt.
It'll be the French Revolution on a massive level.

That being said, I hope that either Trump or Sanders wins. I'll vote for one of these guys for sure.

However, they will need to spend their entire term encased in bullet prof glass.
