Historically war has been the chosen method for dealing with national debts.
WW2 was fought on credit while most of the global nations were suffering from the great depression.
Theory is that there is a trickle down effect as the money given to the military complex recirculates through the economy.

If we elect Trump and he defaults on the National debt then we need a plan in place that stimulates the local economy at that time.

A lot of the traditional war machinery guns, tanks, aircraft, ships ground transportation can't typically be reused after the war for peacetime purposes. They end up being expensive and discarded birth control that delays soldiers from starting new families.

The Civilian Conservation Corps were only partially successful in stimulating the US economy back in the 1920's.
Would be nice if the seed capital for a new expansion went towards infrastructure improvements and national pride.
Our MSM has changed dramatically since the days of just radio and newspaper so I can imagine any number of psyops that might be useful.

Countries that default on their loans usually have to go through a long period of austerity which tends to be unpopular.

Any scenario I can think of would need the austerity phase to psychologically prep the people for a new expansion.

If America's economy ever resets, I think it would be best to break the country up into a few more compatible ones.

Not exactly.

Boeing, Lockheed-Martin and Northrop, along with GM, Ford and Chrysler, all donate to both political tils.
Both parties spewed up presidents; GHW Bush, Bill Clinton, Dubya Bush and Barrack Obama, who favored allowing US industry to flee our homeland for Asia, leaving this nation to flipping beef-like patties and working at WalMart.

We are being indoctrinated to be a nation divided unto itself. Unfortunately, we seem to be lovin' every minute of it...

What would happen if we had to make all that Chinese stuff ourselves?

I think the fact that every single candidate proposed expanding the military and pursuing militaristic means is a more full throated endorsement than the "peaceful" democrats who are supposedly dismantling the military and too cowardly to go to the out house in the dark. One encourages militarism while the other expresses temperance, temperance does not encourage profits.

Jobs.

There'd be jobs... in steel plants and textile mills, etc.

There used to be.

I agree with your OP. We could slash our defense budget in half and still be outspending the rest of the world. Even as a veteran, I'm all for that being the most important item on the government budget to be slashed.

I think capitalists failed to realize that the people with the most capital will always find a way to rig the system

But then it becomes something other than capitalism. Yes politicians will always be bought by those with money.

Socialism gives those same politicians more power. True capitalism would limit their power when it comes to the market.

Equating the GOP to conservatism and democrats etc liberal is a common political fallacy that does not mean what people think it means.

Liberal equates to freedom and conservative equals economics both constantly cross all party lines... but instead of using the terms for what they really mean? theyve transformed into "PC" derogatory terms... which is illogical because freedom and conscious conservative spending are great things... unless you want a totalitarian empire that doesn't want politics to benefit all people found within it equally
